Your Role:

The Machinist Technician 2 at MilliporeSigma' s Bellefonte, PA site will perform a variety of tasks in the production and repair of metal and plastic parts. Job duties include:

  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools according to standard operating procedures - includes engine lathe, turret lathe, milling machine, automatic turret lathe, CNC lathes, CNC mill, saws, and grinders.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Produce metal and plastic parts to close tolerances as directed. May be required to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, selection of materials, equipment required, speeds of machining, etc.
  • Develop operation sequences and recommends changes to machining processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Determine set-up and fixturing requirements in alternate methods of machining.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area.


Physical Qualifications:

  • Proficient in operating machine shop equipment and machinery
  • Capable of lifting 5-20 pounds regularly and occasionally lifting materials over 50 pounds
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Normal vision and may require hearing protection* Competent in wearing proper personal protective equipment
  • Experienced in working in a machine shop setting
  • Skilled in using hands for grasping, manipulating objects, and demonstrating precise movements
  • Comfortable using ladders and steps


Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 + years of experience with machining


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • CNC programming experience: 3+ years with CNC lathe and 1+ year with CNC mill
  • 1+ year of industrial work experience
  • Experience operating lab equipment, including balances, vacuum pumps, and ovens
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient with computers
  • Capable of working independently or in small groups
  • Legible writing skills
  • Experience reading and using technical instructions, including engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of standard machine shop measuring instruments and inspection methods
  • Competent in basic math calculations
  • Basic understanding of drafting principles
  • Skilled in maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers


RSREMD

Pay Range for this position: $20.00 - $33.00.

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
