A Machinist is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision metal parts and instruments. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure products meet exact measurements and quality standards. Machinists perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to optimize machine performance. They may also collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and uphold safety and compliance standards throughout all stages of production.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad knowledge of operational systems and practices typically gained through prior work experience and/or education.
Requires minimum of 4 years of experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.
May require vocational training and/or certification.
Nice to have:
Experience with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines or willingness to learn
Familiarity with basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Understanding of blueprint reading and basic GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a manufacturing environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer literacy for entering data or operating machine interfaces
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production setting
Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as needed
Eagerness to participate in ongoing training and development
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
