As a Machinist, you’ll perform setup, manual operations on a variety of machining equipment.

What you’ll do

  • Machine products to tight tolerances
  • Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed
  • Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers
  • Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces
  • Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators
  • Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements
  • Work independently and as a team to achieve maximum quality
  • Compute and verify dimensions to ensure accuracy
  • Observing all applicable safety practices
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Previous or current knowledge and experience with manual machine tools operations
  • Experienced with operating lathes or mills and using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers)
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals and technical drawings
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Preferred characteristics:

  • VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience preferred
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
