Machinist II-18263

The Skilled Machinist is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and modifying precision components used in aerospace applications. This position requires advanced knowledge of machining processes, materials, and aerospace quality standards to ensure all parts meet engineering specifications, FAA, and AS9100 requirements. The machinist will set up, program, and operate both CNC and manual equipment to produce high quality, tight-tolerance parts in support of production and maintenance operations.

§Set up and operate CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other precision machining equipment

§Interpret complex aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications including GD&T.

§Machine tight-tolerance parts using aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.

§Plan and perform setups, tooling selection, and machining operations with minimal supervision.

§Program and edit CNC code (G/M code) and adjust offsets to ensure precision dimensions.

§Inspect and verify finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM (as applicable).

§Document inspection results per AS9100 and internal quality control procedures.

§Support the fabrication and repair of tooling, fixtures, and jigs used in aircraft component manufacturing or MRO operations.

§Ensure compliance with all FAA, EASA, and internal safety and quality requirements.

§Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and recommend process improvements.

§Maintain clean, organized work areas and adhere to all 5S and safety policies.

Qualifications

§Education:

oHigh school diploma or GED required.

oCompletion of an accredited machinist or aerospace manufacturing technical program preferred.

§Experience:

o3–5 years of precision machining experience in aerospace or a similar regulated industry.

oHands-on experience with CNC machining centers (HAAS, Mazak, Okuma, or similar).

oFamiliarity with AS9100 and FAA Part 145 repair station quality standards a plus.

§Skills and Competencies:

oStrong understanding of aerospace materials, tolerances, and surface finishes.

oAbility to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and process specifications.

oSkilled in setup, operation, and troubleshooting of both CNC and manual equipment.

oWorking knowledge of GD&T and machining to aerospace tolerances.

oProficient with precision measurement tools and inspection methods.

oKnowledge of basic CNC programming and CAM software is highly desirable
