Job Title:
Machinist I
Our site in Chaska is seeking a Machinist I to join our team. As a Machinist I, you will play a key role in producing high quality components used in critical chemical handling systems. You’ll set up and operate manual and CNC equipment, interpret complex engineering drawings, and collaborate with partners across operations, engineering, and quality to ensure every part meets exacting standards. What You’ll Do:
- Download and interpret complex engineering blueprints and work order specifications to determine machining requirements and plan setups.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines—including lathes, mills, grinders, and 5axis equipment—to produce precision parts that meet work order specifications and tight tolerances
- Ensure proper CNC program setup by installing cutting tools, fixtures, and required accessories; verify program readiness and adjust machine parameters as needed
- Collaborate with process technicians to support first run production, including programming CNC mills and lathes using Mastercam and transferring machining files
- Assist manufacturing operators by explaining setup parameters, machine offsets, and CNC settings to ensure safe, consistent, and accurate production
- Issue materials and enter work order information, status updates, and transactional data into SAP and other tracking systems for accurate recordkeeping
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine housekeeping on manual and CNC machines to ensure equipment reliability and uptime
- Verify product quality through visual inspections and measurement tools such as calipers, drop indicators, and Camline
- Take corrective action and escalate issues when necessary and ensure adherence to Entegris quality standards, ISO requirements, and customer specifications
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including Production Reports, Rack Tickets, Labels, Component Sheets, Rework Sheets, SAP transactions, and attribute/variable charts
- Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in 6S, Kaizen, waste reduction initiatives, and other problem-solving activities that enhance productivity, quality, and cost effectiveness
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety procedures and promptly reporting potential hazards to supervision
- Perform additional machining or production support tasks as assigned to meet team, customer, and organizational goals.
What We Seek:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship
- 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Familiarity with manual and CNC machine tools, machining operations, and tool selection
- Strong mechanical aptitude and machine troubleshooting skills
- Proven ability to work independently
- Knowledgeable of common G&M codes
- Willingness to listen, learn, and collaborate with others while contributing to team goals
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
- Proven ability to execute manufacturing processes within a tight tolerance
- Ability to understand documented processes and procedures
- Overall commitment to continuous improvement, quality, operational excellence and safety
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. as needed
- Ability to visually detect quality defects
- Ability to repetitively pinch and grasp hand tools, repetitively twist, bend and reach upward and handle small screws, washers, fasteners, etc.
- Work in an environment with moderate to high noise levels
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be always worn while on duty. This includes safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.
