Work with skilled supervision to perform the following
Setup, programming, and operation on CNC horizontal/vertical lathes and mills
Set up and run fixtures and parts on manual lathes and/or VTLs.
Reads and interprets, blueprints, technical work instructions, specifications, and engine manuals in order to determine the machining sequences and operations to be performed
Ability to set up a component for machining, including indicating, tramming, and restraining the work piece.
Has a solid understanding of machining parameters for different alloy types and can interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Program, edit, and understand both conversational and G-Code programming on mills and lathes, including reference points, tool setting, offsets, and compensation
Ability to use a variety of precision measurement equipment, such as calipers, gages, and micrometers to obtain dimensions down to +/- 0.0002”
Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training programs.
Participate in continuous improvement of the production cell and site.
Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
Carries out other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
Understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and processes.
Ability to use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
Strong mathematical aptitude.
Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, reworks process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and MSDS labels.
Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program, or equivalent.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted).
Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.
Experience using Mastercam preferred
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
