This is the first (entry) level of Machinists; in this role employee is able to alternately set up and operate more than one type of machine tool; such as CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, grinders, etc in machining operations. Performs these functions in the completion of jobs that are moderate in complexity. Operates machinery and maintains setups where previous tooling, operation sequence, fixtures and attachments have been established.

Key Responsibilities

· Possess and applies basic knowledge of operations including boring and milling.

· Performs checks using variety of gauges and fixtures to ensure conformance to specifications.

· Use common hand tools in the production and finishing of machined parts.

· Maintains required levels of production.

· Ensure quality parts while minimizing scrap and rework through proper in-process inspection.

· Perform basic pre-staged machine set-ups under direct supervision.

· Recognize tooling wear problems.

· Follows proper operating procedures and maintains proper records in accordance with plant management system.

· Keeps work area clean and organized to ensure safety and environmental compliance.

· Follows all safety guidelines including utilization of proper PPE.

· Demonstrates positive relations and teamwork as established in the IMI Way.

· Other duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies for Success:

· Basic math skills

· Basic understanding of measurements

· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

· A knowledge of basic computer skills

Pay range $22-25hr
