Machining Lead

Location: Sedalia, MO
Summary:
Oversee operators in the machining area during setup, adjustments, and operation of equipment. The sheet metal fabrication lead will be responsible for managing the overall workflow of the laser and press brakes, managing manufacturing orders (MOs), and monitoring daily performance across the machines to ensure schedule adherence. The sheet metal fabrication lead must be able to interpret blueprints and perform precise measurements with tape measures, calipers, and micrometers. Attention to detail, problem solving, adaptability and a strong work ethic are essential in our fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee operation of all equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment including complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Works closely with operators, material handlers, and the Parts Procurement Manager to create/obtain manufacturing orders and materials.
- Validate sheet metal inventory and coordinate with purchasing to ensure material availability aligns with build schedule
- Locate and ensure correct material is delivered to work center
- Oversee the operations to ensure machines are working properly and being maintained. Work with maintenance to prevent and reduce time on machines
- Ensure nesting programs are available to adhere to schedule
- Ensure parts are verified through QC inspections after machine processes are completed
- Validate consumable levels and relay to purchasing department
- Accurately project completion of work orders at work center
- Manage implementation and adherence to ISO/SMED/PQVC processes
- Complete assignments on-time and correctly
- Ensure jobs are staged correctly after completion
- Continually maintain a clean working environment
- Ensure all lift devices, filters, and equipment are being properly maintained
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- In depth knowledge of company computer systems, specifically Manufacturing/Work Orders
- Previous experience coordinating materials, managing material flow, organizing, and adhering to production schedules
- Strong problem solving, analytical, mathematical, mechanical, planning, organizations, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely, maneuver forklifts, telehandlers, overhead cranes, and pallet jacks throughout shop.
- Punctual and able to commit to a 40-hour work week plus regular overtime available.
- Hardworking and reliable.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Prefer at least 5+ years in a manufacturing setting
- Must be able to execute to ensure their projects are complete. Ensure accountability by owning the projects and holding everyone, including him/herself, accountable.
- Must be a self-starter
Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Must also be able to bend, stoop, or crouch in uncomfortable positions to reach different parts
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling 25/50/80 pounds regularly
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl throughout an 8-12-hours per day
- The ability to work in extreme weather
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
