Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Machine Operator at our Farmington Hills, Michigan manufacturing facility. In this role, you will set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment, inspect materials and finished products, and help improve safety, quality, and productivity. This full-time hourly position has opportunities across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

  • Location: Farmington Hills, MI
  • Work Arrangement: On-site
  • Schedule: Multiple shifts available: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM; 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-11:00 PM; 3rd Shift, Monday-Friday, 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
  • Pay: $18/hour
  • Other Compensation: +$1.00/hour for 2nd Shift; +$1.25/hour for 3rd Shift
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly
  • Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required.

What You'll Do as a Machine Operator

  • Perform moderately complex equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting to help keep machinery operating efficiently.
  • Operate machinery within the designated department as needed to support production requirements.
  • Inspect materials, finished products, and machinery for defects to help ensure quality standards are met.
  • Implement process improvement initiatives that support greater efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor department output to help meet organizational expectations and production targets.
  • Guide manufacturing and operations team members in interpreting existing processes and policies, and help identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Complete required documentation fully and accurately while maintaining appropriate production records.
  • Maintain 5S standards and follow applicable safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, including experience driving powered industrial equipment.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of machinery operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision while demonstrating independence and initiative.
  • Ability to address complex issues and problems, escalating only the most complex matters to higher-level staff.
  • Ability to provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group to support team development and efficiency.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed on-site in a manufacturing environment and involves production machinery, equipment setup and operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality inspection. Employees in this role are also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
