OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment within the machining line to ensure efficient production and high-quality output. This role requires a solid understanding of machining processes, product specifications, material handling, and quality standards, along with the ability to troubleshoot issues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and work collaboratively with supervisors and team members. The Machine Operator must consistently follow all health and safety policies, injury prevention procedures, and operational requirements while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and product quality.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Production

• Operate saws, cutting equipment, and other hand and power tools safely and efficiently to meet production requirements.
• Read and interpret specification sheets, work orders, and production schedules to ensure products are manufactured according to specifications.
• Perform accurate measurements and quality checks using appropriate measuring and verification tools.
• Work confidently with both metric and imperial units of measurement, ensuring precision and compliance with product requirements.
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot equipment or process issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
• Use manufacturing software and computer-based systems to record production data, track materials, and support operational requirements.
• Follow established quality standards and inspect finished products to ensure customer specifications are met.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and injury prevention policies and procedures, maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and 6S initiatives by maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient work area and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and team members from diverse cultural backgrounds to achieve production goals.
• Assist with material handling, product movement, and inventory-related tasks as required.
• Maintain consistent productivity, accuracy, and quality while meeting daily production targets and deadlines.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma.

EXPERIENCE / CAPABILITIES

• Experience using measuring and verification tools to inspect products and ensure compliance with specifications, including working with both metric (mm) and imperial (inches) measurements.
• Experience working in a diverse, team-oriented manufacturing environment, utilizing computer-based production systems and supporting Lean Manufacturing and 6S initiatives.
• Able to read and interpret specification sheets.
• Basic understanding of computers.
• Communicate effectively in English both verbal and written.
