A CNC Operator is responsible for completing all Work Order Processing (WOP) orders related to our Enclosure Modification Machine (EMM). This machine is specifically designed to drill, tap, and mill electrical enclosures and panels. The CNC Operator may be asked to assist with other orders for the Custom Assembly and Services (CAS) department which may include engraving, assembly, pre-fabrication, kitting, wire processing or any new services. This role is key to the timely and accurate custom solutions for our customers in the electrical industry.

Essential Functions

  • Perform assigned duties in a safe manner, following company policies including proper PPE, Housekeeping, and reporting of near misses and incidents.
  • Produce Work Orders (WO) according to the bill of material, pictorials, drawings, and/or customer specifications attached to the WO.
  • Read, create, and/or import AutoCAD drawings and use custom programming to send CNC code to machine.
  • Adhere to quality checks assigned by WO including checklists, inspections, testing, packing, and labeling of product to meet customer expectations.
  • Prioritize work by due date, expedite orders as necessary, and notify supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Meet quality control needs to manage costs of miscellaneous items and supplies, as well as minimize scrap and rework.
  • Punch in and out of Standard Time to track time spent on each WO.
  • Organize materials, keep work area clean, and log and file WO.
  • Use hand tools and machinery (i.e. Enclosure Modification Machine) to process customer orders.
  • Use computer aided programs (i.e. Amazon Photos, Eclipse, Tecsys, Brady, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD LT, CE (Customizing Expert), RCS802, etc.) to process orders, run machines, maintain databases, document repeat orders, and communicate amongst team members.
  • Pack and ship orders as necessary to meet customer needs, including special labeling, kitting, and packing.
  • Interpret customer needs and complete when given liberties to proceed without clear direction.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • General knowledge of blueprints or the ability to learn such
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Outlook
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and comprehend instructions, pictorials, drawings, and customer specifications in English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and convert units of measures
  • Ability to carry out instructions, work without direct supervision at times, and work in both a team and solo environment
  • Excellent attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to present information 1:1 or in small groups
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Technical Diploma or certificate from college or technical school and/or 1 year of related experience utilizing CNC programming or AutoCAD LT
  • Blueprint reading or past experience using engineered prints/specifications
