The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator is to operate machinery in the fabrication shop and to ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols
Essential Functions
Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols
Operate, maintain, and demonstrate mastery of one or more machines; cross-trained on multiple machines as applicable
Inspect slabs for defects and ensure cuts are accurate
Polish and cut stone and edges to specifications
Apply increasing knowledge of materials and stone characteristics to ensure quality output
Perform machine operations and maintenance with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
Support workflow and production schedules as required
Provide guidance or mentoring to other operators as applicable
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Competencies
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); technical degree preferred
1+ years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment, with increasing responsibility over time
Experience running machines in a manufacturing environment
Basic to advanced mechanical skills related to equipment maintenance
Ability to drive production according to a set schedule
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Cross-functional expertise on multiple pieces of equipment
Strong attention to detail and quality standards
Ability to identify stone characteristics and material defects with accuracy
Exhibits leadership and mentoring skills as experience increases
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend and stoop for 8+ hours.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs
