We are currently seeking an ambitious tax professional to join the Mergers and Acquisitions team within the tax function.

How will you Make an Impact?

As a tax professional at Deloitte, you are responsible for proactively assisting clients in their day-to-day requests, reporting requirements, as well as keeping abreast with tax developments, in order to help our clients excel globally.

Your main tasks will include but are not limited to the following:

• Be actively involved in mergers and acquisitions transactions, including vendor / buyer tax due diligence engagements, transaction advisory and structuring engagements;
• Work on engagements involving corporate groups’ shareholding and operational restructurings, including assistance with the implementation thereof;
• Assist in the provision of quality tax advice to both local and international clients;
• Keep abreast with tax developments, both locally and internationally;
• Develop and apply technical knowledge when assisting leadership in client advisory projects as well as during the project lifecycle;
• Assisting with advising clients on local tax laws, reporting requirements as well as other taxation needs / requirements;
• Liaise with lawyers, accountants, auditors and other service providers on behalf of corporate clients;
• Assisting with conducting an assessment of a business’ existing operations and the impact of an organisational transaction (e.g. merger, acquisition, divesture); and
• Developing an understanding of how to read and review complicated client financial models to modify / add any key tax matters that may affect the client’s financial model.

Your Specialised skills:

• Be in possession of, or actively working to obtain, a university degree in Accountancy, or an equivalent qualification such as ACA or ACCA
• Be able to work on their own initiative and have a strong work ethic
• Have an excellent command of English
• Be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, organisation and analytical skills

Ways to Stand Out:

• Past experience working within a similar role in tax is considered a benefit (but not a requirement!)
• Have a good command of spoken Maltese
