Work You’ll Do

Senior Managers in Deloitte M&A combine a sharp business sense with an eagerness to deliver results. They advise buyers with M&A transactions whether they are Executives at the firm and fund, deal teams sourcing and executing transactions, or the management teams of the portfolio companies owned by the private equity. Our practitioners perform business process analysis, mapping, and design for M&A projects focused on an IT workstream. This includes IT infrastructure separation, data center migration, application integration / separation / rationalization, or IT synergies/cost reduction. As part of the M&A IT team, Senior Managers lead large, complex engagements that identify, design, and administer creative business and technology solutions for large companies. Senior Managers are expected to contribute to the firm’s growth and development in a variety of ways:

  • Execute on multiple M&A IT Integration & Divestiture (I&D) projects concurrently, working with Manager-level personnel to ensure excellence in project work
  • Partner with senior executives to define how they employ M&A – in alignment with their corporate strategy – to drive profitable growth and enable them to compete effectively in their industry
  • Provide service excellence by identifying key client business issues, determining client needs by supplementing the standard assessment techniques and tools with innovative approaches, evaluating and validating analysis and developing recommendations for the client in the context of the overall engagement
  • Perform the role of counselor and coach, provide input and guidance into the staffing process, actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities, provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices
  • Mentor and develop staff through informal coaching and day-to-day project interactions. This includes working with global IT teams as applicable and may require work to be balanced across varying/multiple time zones.
  • Improve internal processes, and promote knowledge sharing in the team, by contributing to the community of practice, blogs, and other forms of market eminence. Develop "point- of-view" documents, participate in public speaking events, get published in industry periodicals.

The Team

Our M&A team offers expert guidance to corporate and private equity clients in navigating complex growth and divestiture scenarios. Our services encompass M&A strategy and transaction diligence, integration and separation planning and execution, as well as transaction financing.

Deloitte's mergers, acquisitions and restructuring services span the full private equity life cycle. The M&A IT team focuses on those I&D activities particular to our clients needs. Our services include IT operational day 1 planning, including carve out assistance and transition service agreements. The team provides subject matter knowledge across critical components of IT (e.g., infrastructure, applications, IT operations, IT finances and expenses, Active Directory, end-user computing, messaging, enterprise architecture, testing). What sets this team apart from the competition is our comprehensive breadth of offerings combined with deep technical and industry expertise. The scope of their work may include end-state system architecture; application rationalization; system or data migration. This team helps clients refocus their IT capabilities and identify their optimal Transaction and Transformation strategies. As the Next-Gen provider of M&A services, M&A IT uses Delivery Innovation, Cloud and Flexible Compute Services to enhance every aspect of IT within the M&A landscape.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A candidate must have 8+ years of M&A IT or M&A IT service delivery experience in the following areas:
    • Setting, leading and delivering engagement objectives and scope
    • Developing work plans for components of engagements, coordinating activities between work streams and identifying changes in scope
    • Designing deliverable content to precisely reflect the engagement contract and client needs
    • Managing cross-functional teams to deliver M&A engagements across all of phases of the M&A lifecycle including due-diligence, pre-close, and post-merger integration
    • Providing PE equity buyers with a broad continuum of advisory integration and divestiture program management services to support mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, investment and financing structures, disposition alternatives and post-transaction activities
    • providing industry insight and analytical support using data mining, pattern matching, data visualization, and predictive modelling tools to produce analysis and algorithms that enables pre-deal and post-deal integration, divestiture, and major restructuring/cost transformation activities to achieve/exceed deal value, synergy targets, or strategic cost takeout objectives
    • Business Development by developing and maintaining contact with top decision makers at key clients, as well as leading and delivering aspects of the proposal development process, contributing to the development of proposal pricing strategies
    • Integration, divestiture and/or joint venture standup execution
  • 8+ years of experience in one area of Information Technology providing depth in that area
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years consulting and/or industry experience; alternatively, an MBA with 6+ years relevant work experience
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

  • Recent experience working in a professional services consulting firm
  • Knowledge of Cloud Migration/Standup is a plus
  • Ability to work independently; lead small teams focused on specific work streams of larger projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Ability to apply practical experience with communications, culture, and change management
  • Ability to perform analysis and synthesize data into useful insights
  • Eagerness to mentor junior staff
  • An advanced degree

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $189,200 to $372,900.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
