Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Contact vendors and subcontractors for pricing and bids
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals, including labor, materials, and time requirements.
  • Assist in calculating labor, materials, and equipment costs
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate scope and pricing.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and assess project conditions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, labor rates, and material costs.
  • Track and document all estimation activities and maintain historical cost data.
  • Identify potential cost risks and provide value engineering options.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Certification from respected electrical program. Bachelor’s or associate degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Skills and Experience:

  • Problem assessment and problem solving.
  • Information gathering and information monitoring.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Customer service oriented.
  • High level of computer skills including, but not limited to estimating software
  • Strong math and analytical skills

It must be said that the arrival of Indian Gaming and forward thinking were the main catalysts in creating those ‘family-sustaining wages and above average benefit packages’ that now exist and that allow young people to return. This was not always the case.
