The Staff LVN is a licensed caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. He/she is a clinical practitioner who implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care/within scope of practice.

Provides direct patient care under the direction/supervision of a registered nurse. Practices within the legal boundaries for licensed vocational nursing and accepts responsibility of individual nursing actions, competence, decisions and behavior in the course of vocational nursing practice.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

Attend at least 4 hours of an approved pediatric education within 6 months of hire date and every year thereafter. May attend a Two-day approved EDAP/ENPC course every 4 years for those at QVH only.

Minimum Experience Requirement:

Minimum 2 years acute successful clinical experience preferred. Prior experience in an acute care facility, urgent care or formal classroom education in Medical/Surgical as appropriate for clinical specialty. E xcelle nt cu sto mer ser vi ce ski lls requi red.

Minimum License Requirement:

LVN DOU/CCU/ICU - Current LVN license in the State of California. Maintains BLS certification/re-certification as required. IV Certification must be attained within 90 days. ACLS certification within 3 months.
LVN GI Lab - Two years experience in an acute care facility or outpatient surgical setting is preferred. Current CA LVN License. BLS required. ACLS within 3 months from date of hire. IV certification must be obtained within 3 months from date of hire.
LVN MBCU - Current LVN license in the State of California. Maintains BLS certification/ re-certification as required. IV Certification must be attained within 90 days. NRP required.
LVN Med Surg- L
VN lic ense in the St ate of C alifor nia. BLS r eq uire d IV c ertificati on is r eq uired Annual 4 hours of Orthopedic Education required for those working at QVH.
LVN NICU - Current LVN license in the State of California. Maintains BLS certification/ re-certification as required. IV Certification must be attained within 90 days.
LVN L&D - L
VN lic ense in the St ate of C alifor nia. BLS r eq uire d IV c ertificati on is r eq uired NRP required within 3 months of hire/transfer.
LVN PEDS - Current LVN license in the State of California. BLS required. PALS required within 6 months of hire. IV Certification must be attained within 90 days.
LVN PSW - Current LVN license in the State of California. Maintains BLS certification/re-certification as required. IV certification is required at date of hire/transfer. Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required within upon hire/transfer. New hires who have completed Assaultive Behavior training outside of Emanate Health will be required to complete Emanate Health Work Place Violence online awareness module within 30 days of hire/transfer.

LVN Pre-Admitting - Current LVN license in the State of California. BLS required.

LVN Emergency - California LVN license. BLS required. IV certification is required within 60 days of hire. Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required within 30 days of hire/transfer. New hires that have completed Assaultive Behavior training outside of Emanate Health will be required to complete Emanate Health Work Place Violence online awareness module within 30 days of hire/transfer. ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire/transfer. Annual 8 hours of Stroke Education required for those working at QVH.
