Summary:
The Lunch Duty Aide provides daily supervision and support during student lunch periods to help maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment. This position is responsible for monitoring student behavior and safety, assisting with lunchroom procedures and transitions, and reinforcing school expectations in a Christ-centered manner. Consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability are essential to ensuring appropriate student supervision and smooth daily operations.
Qualifications:
- Must be a committed Christian and demonstrate a Christ-centered lifestyle.
- Member of a local church in good standing.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or ministry setting is preferred.
- Ability to care for and interact positively with students while reinforcing appropriate behavior and school expectations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, observant, and professional in a busy student environment.
- Must demonstrate consistent punctuality, dependability, and attendance.
- Ability to follow established procedures and directions from school administration.
- Pleasant and professional demeanor.
Essential Functions:
Student Supervision & Safety
- Supervise students during lunch periods in the cafeteria and other designated lunch areas.
- Maintain active and attentive supervision to promote student safety.
- Monitor student behavior and reinforce established school expectations and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to minor incidents, concerns, or student needs.
- Communicate significant concerns, incidents, or safety issues to school administration.
- Assist students in obtaining additional help from appropriate school personnel when needed.
Lunchroom Operations & Procedures
- Assist with student transitions into and out of the cafeteria or designated lunch areas.
- Help students follow established seating, lunchroom, and dismissal procedures.
- Support an orderly and efficient lunch environment.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized lunch area.
- Help ensure students properly dispose of trash and leave lunch areas ready for the next group.
School Culture & Community Engagement
- Build positive and respectful relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Model Christ-like behavior and reinforce biblical principles in interactions with students.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support a positive school environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in all interactions.
- Serve as a positive representative of the school and its mission.
Physical and Safety Requirement
- This is a safety-sensitive position; employees may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of assigned lunch periods.
- Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors, as needed.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the lunch area as necessary.
- Clear verbal communication and hearing abilities for effective student supervision and staff interaction.
- Visual acuity and awareness necessary to actively monitor student behavior and safety.
Additional Expectations:
- Maintain consistent daily attendance and punctuality.
- Recognize that reliable lunch supervision is essential to student safety and daily school operations.
- Be available to work the established Monday–Friday schedule with minimal absences.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist with reasonable lunch-related needs as directed.
