We are seeking Human Systems Integration Engineers to support the development and operations of the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), the next-generation lunar surface mobility system that will enable Artemis astronauts and commercial partners to explore the lunar surface.

Responsibilities

The Human Systems Integration Engineer will:

  • Lead human systems integration activities such as concept trade studies, human-in-the-loop testing, crew task analysis, and human error analysis.
  • Develop and evaluate human-system interfaces to ensure alignment with crew performance, safety, usability, and mission operational objectives.
  • Apply engineering principles to requirements development, verification and validation, system and mission validation, and hardware/software integration and deployment.
  • Provide technical human systems integration expertise during major project milestones and project reviews.
  • Establish and lead working relationships with customer counterparts, requirement owners, and cross-functional personnel to promote mission success.
  • Mentor team members with the implementation of human systems integration engineering techniques and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of related human systems integration experience.
  • Engineering experience working with human space systems.
  • Applied working knowledge of engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems.
  • Experience working on cross-discipline engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of human space exploration programs (EHP, ISS, Orion, etc.).
  • Knowledge of NASA human-rating and human factors requirements/standards (e.g. NPR 8705.2, NASA-STD-3001)
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

Preferences:

  • INCOSE Certification.
  • Project management or other leadership experience
  • Experience with integration of suited crew members with space systems.
  • Experience with Virtual Reality systems and models for rapid prototyping of human interfaces.
  • Experience with requirement development, decomposition, documentation, and review.
  • Experience developing technical documentation.
  • Working experience with systems engineering tools, such as DOORs, MagicDraw, JAMA, or similar.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering.

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
