
LBM Counter Salesperson (Full-Time)
Salary Range: $80,000–$130,000 total compensation
Car Package Provided
Benefits (60/40 Employer–Employee Split)
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 42.5 hours per week
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established Lumber & Building Materials operation serving professional contractors, builders, and retail customers. They are seeking a customer-focused Counter Salesperson to deliver knowledgeable, consultative service and support day-to-day sales operations at the branch level.
This role is ideal for someone who understands building materials, enjoys solving construction-related challenges, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers promptly and assess needs using consultative, open-ended questioning
Provide expert product guidance on lumber and building materials, including uses, advantages, and limitations
Prepare accurate pricing, quotations, and material estimates
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pricing, inventory, and surplus stock
Process special orders and coordinate with suppliers for non-stock items
Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to support material take-offs
Assist customers in resolving building challenges and product-related concerns
Handle inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently
Maintain confidentiality of store and customer records
Follow all provincial and federal safety regulations and report hazards as required
Support additional duties as assigned by management
The Successful Candidate Will Have
High school diploma or equivalent
Retail or building supply experience preferred
Strong communication, interpersonal, and mathematical skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Knowledge of local building codes and permit requirements is considered an asset
Team-oriented mindset with a strong willingness to learn and develop professionally

Store Manager or Dealer-Owner
