Job Description

[What the role is]

PRINCIPAL/ SENIOR/ EXECUTIVE ENGINEER (SOLUTION ARCHITECT – CLOUD AFC & PAYMENTS)

[What you will be working on]

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Solution Architect to play a key role in the modernisation of Singapore’s Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, which supports Account-Based Ticketing & Card-Based Ticketing, to deliver seamless, secure, and scalable public transport experience. This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to the digital transformation of Singapore’s public transport systems and we are looking for experienced solution architects to help lead this transformation.

As part of the System Architecture and Assurance Division, you will lead and drive end-to-end solution design, architecture governance, and technical assessments across complex integrations involving payment systems, backend processing, cloud services, and system security. You will be instrumental in applying the driving design best practices and ensuring system reliability at a national scale.

  • Architect and design secure, scalable, and high-availability system solutions for AFC and payment systems, including those using EMV, open-loop standards, account-based ticketing and card-based ticketing models.
  • Lead cloud solutioning and migration strategies, particularly for AWS-based deployments, ensuring alignment with LTA’s cloud adoption roadmap.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (project teams, software development teams, operations) and external partners (vendors, financial institutions) to develop robust and future-ready solutions.
  • Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into high-level and detailed technical specifications and interface designs.
  • Perform technical impact analysis for change requests and system enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to mission-critical AFC operations.
  • Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, API/interface specifications, integration patterns, and designs for complex multi-vendor and multi-system environments
  • Contribute to architecture governance, cloud best practices, security controls, and system resiliency planning.
  • Conduct solution walkthroughs, architecture reviews, and technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

[What we are looking for]

  • Strong knowledge in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in solution architecture, systems analysis/design, or complex application development.
  • Proven experience designing or supporting cloud-based systems (preferably AWS).
  • Familiarity with e-payment technologies, particularly in the context of fare collection, transaction clearing, and EMV-based systems.
  • Strong communication skills, system design analysis and ability to resolve complex multi-stakeholder issues
  • Experience with stakeholder management and working in complex, multi-vendor environments.

Bonus Skills:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional) are strongly preferred

As part of the shortlisting process for the role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and / or undergo further assessment.
