Job Description

Job Title: Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/Professional. Pay Scale APP3

Reports to: Director of Special Education

Dept./School: Special Education

Primary Purpose:

Perform professional psychological services including assessment, behavior management, and counseling for students with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Assess the psychological and psycho-educational needs of students referred for special education services.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree in school psychology from an accredited program. • Valid license issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) required. For Interns � eligibility as LSSP Intern under TSBEP regulations. • Experience in teaching or clinical psychology in a public school environment is preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures; education of special education students; human development; and learning theories. • Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions • Skill in organization; communication; and interpersonal relations. • Ability to effectively review and analyze students to determine needs
