1. Operational Leadership
1.1. Manage daily mine operations activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
1.2. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure smooth operations.
1.3. Create and execute operational strategies to achieve production goals and enhance efficiency.
1.4. Develop and implement efficient production schedules.
1.5. Monitor and ensure optimal equipment and resource utilization to minimize downtime.
2. Compliance
2.1. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
2.2. Implement risk assessments and safety initiatives to reduce incidents.
2.3. Encourage a robust safety culture and set an example by implementing effective safety measures.
3. Resource Management
3.1. Effectively manage personnel, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient resource utilization.
3.2. Monitor equipment performance and collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure repairs and preventive maintenance.
4. Performance Monitoring
4.1. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production targets, equipment availability, and safety metrics.
4.2. Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
5. Budget and Cost Control
5.1. Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining production quality.
5.2. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or performance.
6. Team Development
6.1. Provide leadership and mentorship to supervisory and operational staff.
6.2. Conduct performance evaluations and develop training programs to enhance workforce skills.
6.3. Manage shift schedules, task assignments, and labor distribution to optimize productivity.
6.4. Address workplace conflicts or grievances promptly to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
7.1. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as mine planning and processing teams, to align operational
activities.
7.2. Engage with departmental contractors and ensure collaboration is maintained in order to meet the set goals.
7.3. Communicate with external contractors and suppliers to ensure service quality and timely delivery.
8. Reporting and Monitoring
8.1. Prepare and present detailed reports on daily production performance,
8.2. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of production and safety reports, incident reporting and resolution time, percentage of operational targets achieved.
8.3. Generate accurate and timely reports on production, safety, compliance, and financial performance.
8.4. Monitor production output, equipment utilization, and resource consumption to ensure targets are met.
Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mining engineering, geology, civil engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in open pit mining. Technical expertise such as mine planning, drilling, blasting, hauling processes, and equipment utilization.
Leadership experience, like managing cross-functional teams and liaising with stakeholders.
Knowledge of mining operations, regulatory compliance, technology, problem-solving, and communication skills.

11. Organize and participate in regular safety training for all staff, focusing on areas such as equipment operation, fire prevention, and hazardous material handling.
12. Foster continuous learning by encouraging workers to refresh their safety knowledge and certifications.
13. Track and analyze safety performance metrics, such as incident rates, near-misses, and safety audit results.
14. Prepare and submit detailed safety reports to management, highlighting trends, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
15. Ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of PPE for all employees.
16. Regularly inspect and replace worn or damaged safety equipment.
17. Implement strategies to address worker fatigue, such as scheduling adequate breaks and monitoring workload distribution.
