Job Description

  1. Hydraulic Maintenance Execution

    a. Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on hydraulic systems across Port MPQ equipment, including stackers, reclaimers, conveyors, ship loaders, and auxiliary equipment.

    b. Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, accumulators, hoses, and filtration systems.

    c. Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with OEM specifications, engineering standards, and maintenance procedures.

    d. Execute maintenance tasks efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure continuous equipment operation.

    2. System Inspection & Condition Monitoring

    1. Conduct routine inspections of hydraulic systems to detect wear, leaks, contamination, or performance degradation.
    2. Monitor system parameters including pressure, flow, and temperature to ensure optimal performance.
    3. Perform oil analysis, contamination control, and filtration management to maintain hydraulic fluid integrity.
    4. Identify early signs of potential failures and implement corrective actions proactively.

      3. Fault Finding & Troubleshooting

      1. Diagnose hydraulic system faults including pressure loss, leakage, overheating, and control failures.
      2. Use systematic troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes of hydraulic issues.
      3. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring failures and implement long-term corrective measures.
      4. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to resolve integrated equipment faults.

        4. System Performance & Optimization

        a. Ensure hydraulic systems operate efficiently and meet performance requirements.

        b. Optimize system settings, pressure levels, and flow control to improve efficiency and reduce energy losses.

        c. Recommend and implement modifications or upgrades to improve system reliability and lifespan.

        d. Support operational teams in achieving optimal equipment performance.

      5. Installation & Commissioning Support

      1. Install and commission hydraulic systems and components for new or upgraded equipment.
      2. Verify correct assembly, alignment, and integration of hydraulic components.
      3. Support testing, flushing, and system commissioning activities prior to operational handover.
      4. Ensure safe and controlled system startup following installation or maintenance activities.

      6. Documentation & Reporting

      1. Record maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP).
      2. Maintain accurate records of hydraulic system performance, defects, and corrective actions.
      3. Update technical documentation including schematics, manuals, and maintenance procedures.
      4. Provide feedback to engineering teams for continuous improvement.

      7. Spare Parts & Consumables Management

      1. Identify and report requirements for hydraulic spare parts, consumables, and specialized tools.
      2. Ensure availability of critical components to support maintenance activities.
      3. Monitor usage and condition of hydraulic consumables, including filters and oils.
      4. Support inventory optimization to prevent shortages and excess stock.

      8. Health, Safety & Risk Management

      1. Perform all hydraulic maintenance activities in strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
      2. Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) and ensure safe isolation of hydraulic and mechanical energy sources.
      3. Identify and mitigate risks associated with high-pressure hydraulic systems.
      4. Conduct hazard assessments and participate in safety audits and toolbox talks.
      5. Promote a strong safety culture with zero tolerance for unsafe practices.

      9. Teamwork & Collaboration

      1. Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to support equipment performance.
      2. Provide technical support and guidance to technicians and maintenance personnel.
      3. Mentor and transfer knowledge to local workforce and junior team members.
      4. Maintain clear communication and coordination across all work activities.

      10. Continuous Improvement

      1. Identify opportunities to improve hydraulic system reliability, efficiency, and maintenance practices.
      2. Support implementation of predictive maintenance and condition-based monitoring strategies.
      3. Contribute to equipment reliability programs and operational excellence initiatives.
      4. Capture lessons learned and implement best practices across maintenance teams.

      11. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

      1. Hydraulic system uptime and reliability
      2. Reduction in hydraulic failures and leaks
      3. Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
      4. Maintenance completion rates
      5. Fluid contamination levels within acceptable limits
      6. Safety performance (zero incidents)
