Job Description

  1. Electrical Maintenance Execution
    • Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems associated with Port MPQ equipment, including conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders, and auxiliary systems.
    • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair electrical components such as motors, control panels, MCCs, cables, sensors, and field devices.
    • Execute maintenance tasks in accordance with OEM specifications, engineering standards, and maintenance procedures.
    • Ensure all maintenance work is completed efficiently and within required timelines to minimize operational disruptions.
  2. Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and rectify electrical faults using systematic troubleshooting techniques.
    1. Identify root causes of recurring electrical issues and support implementation of corrective actions.
    2. Work closely with Electrical Engineers and SCADA specialists to resolve complex electrical and control system issues.
    3. Maintain clear records of faults, repairs, and corrective actions taken.
  3. Installation & Commissioning Support :Install, connect, and test electrical equipment, wiring systems, and control devices.
    1. Support commissioning activities by conducting loop checks, functional tests, and verification of electrical systems.
    2. Assist in system energization and ensure safe startup of electrical equipment.
    3. Verify correct installation of new or modified electrical systems.
  4. Equipment Reliability & Performance: Monitor condition and performance of electrical equipment to detect early signs of failure.
    1. Participate in predictive maintenance activities such as thermography and condition monitoring.
    2. Ensure electrical systems operate at optimal performance levels, minimizing downtime and improving efficiency.
    3. Provide feedback to engineers on equipment performance and reliability issues.
  5. Compliance & Technical Standards
    1. Ensure all electrical work complies with company standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements.
    2. Follow approved electrical procedures, wiring standards, and safety guidelines.
    3. Maintain high-quality workmanship and ensure installations meet required quality benchmarks.
  6. Tools, Equipment & Spare Parts Management
    1. Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of electrical tools and test equipment.
    2. Identify and report requirements for spare parts and consumables.
    3. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory of electrical materials and components.
  7. Documentation & Reporting
    1. Record all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP).
    2. Update equipment records, maintenance logs, and work orders accurately.
    3. Provide feedback for improvement of maintenance procedures and documentation.
  8. Health, Safety & Risk Management
    1. Perform all electrical work in strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
    2. Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure proper isolation of electrical systems before work.
    3. Identify electrical hazards and take appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks.
    4. Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and risk assessments.
    5. Promote a zero-harm culture and ensure safe working practices at all times.
  9. Teamwork & Collaboration
    1. Work collaboratively with electricians, engineers, mechanical teams, and operators to support operations.
    2. Assist and mentor junior technicians and local workforce where required.
    3. Support team objectives and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  10. Continuous Improvement
    1. Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and equipment reliability.
    2. Suggest improvements to electrical systems, processes, and working methods.
    3. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices.
  11. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    1. Reduction in electrical equipment downtime
    2. Mean time to repair (MTTR)
    3. Maintenance task completion rate
    4. Number of repeat electrical faults
    5. Compliance with safety and maintenance standards
    6. Quality of maintenance work and defect reduction
