Job Description

  1. Operational Supervision:
    1. Oversee the daily operation of the Crusher / Mineral Sizer key performance indicators (KPI’s) including ROM ore feed rates to the crusher / mineral sizer and crushed ROM ore size specification as required for overall production requirements.
    2. Supervise and coordinate employees engaged in the crushing of the raw materials (ROM ore), execution of routine duties to ensure steady state operations within the section.
  2. Team Management:
    1. Supervise and lead a team of operators and control room, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high- quality performance and adherence to procedures.
    2. Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance evaluations to enhance team productivity and effectiveness.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    1. Ensure that all ROM feeding to the crusher / mineral sizer and size reduction activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
    2. Develop, implement, and enforce safety procedures and protocols, conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments related to crusher operations, ROM ore size reduction activities and crusher / mineral sizer equipment operations
    3. Ensure that team members are trained in safety practices and follow proper procedures.
  4. Process Optimization:
    1. Monitor and analyze operational data (crusher ore size specifications, feed rates, feed quality and characteristics) to identify opportunities for process improvements and optimize crushing efficiency for optimum size reduction operations and performance.
    2. Implement best practices, feed tipping techniques and strategies to enhance equipment utilization, reduce downtime, and ensure overall plant performance to meet downstream process demand / requirements.
  5. Equipment Maintenance:
    1. Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform regular maintenance and repairs on equipment and infrastructure.
    2. Ensure that equipment is maintained to high standards and promptly address any operational issues or breakdowns.
  6. Resource Management:
    1. Manage the inventory of materials and equipment required for crushing / size reduction operations.
    2. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of necessary parts and materials and manage stock levels effectively.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate records of crushing operating parameters (gap settings / feed rates), including production metrics, equipment performance, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
    2. Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and any issues or incidents, to senior management.
  8. Collaboration and Communication:
    1. Work closely with other departments, including mining operations, production, maintenance, and process control, to ensure effective coordination of ROM ore feed supply to the section, ensuring correctly size material for downstream processes and sufficient production output.
    2. Facilitate communication between teams to address operational challenges and ensure alignment with overall plant goals.
  9. Training and Development:
    1. Provide training and mentorship to team members on crushing processes, safety practices, and equipment operation.
    2. Develop and update training materials and programs to keep the team informed about current procedures and technologies.
