
Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
1. Short-Term Planning:
1.1. Develop and maintain short-term mine plans that align with operational objectives and resource availability.
1.2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (geology, geotechnical and other mine planning engineers) to gather data
and operational insights necessary to establish robust planning assumptions that will facilitate an accurate,
achievable medium-range plan.
1.3. Visit the production pits daily to monitor execution of the plan and ensure that the operations comply with the monthly, weekly,
and daily plans.
2. Scheduling:
2.1. Create detailed short-term designs and schedules that are aligned with the annual Business Plan that outline key
milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
2.2. Continuously monitor and update schedules to reflect actual progress against plan and adjust these for any
changes to the project deliverables and timelines.
3. Resource Allocation:
3.1. Coordinate the allocation of resources (labour, materials, equipment) to ensure optimal utilisation and efficiency in
project execution.
3.2. Identify potential resource constraints and develop mitigation strategies to compensate for these.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting:
4.1. Analyse project data and performance metrics to identify trends, potential issues/risks to the plan and any areas
for improvement.
4.2. Prepare and present reports to management on project status (actual vs plan), compliance to plan and resource
utilisation and availability.
4.3. Responsible for managing the MIS database and reports.
5. Risk Management:
5.1. Identify project risks and develop appropriate risk management strategies to mitigate potential impacts on project
timelines and objectives.
5.2. Proactively address any issues that may affect delivery of the plan.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
6.1. Act as a liaison between the TSD Department and the production team, and stakeholders to facilitate effective
communication and alignment.
6.2. Participate in daily planning meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions.
7. Continuous Improvement:
7.1. Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in planning and scheduling processes.
7.2. Identify opportunities for enhancing planning methodologies and tools.
Qualifications / Experience / Technical Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within mining.
• Proficiency in using mine planning software for mine design and scheduling is advantageous.

5. Technical Proficiency:
o Proficiency in mine planning software and tools for use in short-term mine design and scheduling, and for tracking performance against plan (project schedule). would be advantageous.
o Understanding of mineral resource management principles and practices. o Staying updated on the latest mining technologies and processes to enhance performance.

Working Conditions
• Mine-based, daily duties in operational pits as well as the TSD office for project oversight.
• May require working in various environmental conditions typical of mining operations.

Health and Safety
1.1. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
1.2. Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
1.3. Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.
1.4. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimise risks to personal health and safety.
1.5. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.
1.6. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.
1.7. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
1.8. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
1.9. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
1.9.1. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviours and reporting unsafe conditions.
1.9.2. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
1.9.3. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.
Environment
1.1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
1.2. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.
1.3. Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
1.4. Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organisation by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
1.5. Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
