Job Description

  1. Commissioning & Operational Readiness
    1. Lead and manage end-to-end EC&I commissioning activities for all Port MPQ systems, including conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders, and auxiliary systems.
    2. Develop, review, and execute detailed commissioning plans, checklists, test procedures, and system validation protocols.
    3. Coordinate and oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), loop checks, functional testing, and system integration testing.
    4. Drive system readiness reviews by assessing installation completeness, documentation availability, and system integrity prior to energization and startup.
    5. Ensure all EC&I systems meet operational performance criteria and are fully functional before handover.
  2. Systems Integration & Performance Assurance
    1. Ensure seamless integration between electrical systems, PLCs, SCADA platforms, drives, and instrumentation.
    2. Validate control logic, interlocks, alarms, and automation sequences to ensure safe and efficient operation.
    3. Monitor system performance during commissioning and initial operations to ensure reliability and stability.
    4. Identify system inefficiencies and implement optimization measures to improve performance and energy efficiency.

      3.Technical Review & Compliance

      1. Review and validate engineering deliverables including control philosophies, IO lists, electrical schematics, cable schedules, and instrumentation diagrams.
      2. Ensure all EC&I installations comply with company standards, OEM specifications, international codes, and regulatory requirements.
      3. Verify proper installation, calibration, and configuration of instruments, control devices, and electrical systems.
      4. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, isolation procedures, and permit-to-work systems.

      4. Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution

      1. Lead fault-finding and diagnostics of electrical, control, and instrumentation issues during commissioning and early operations.
      2. Perform root cause analysis of system failures, identify corrective actions, and implement preventive measures.
      3. Work closely with vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.
      4. Maintain a defect tracking system to monitor, prioritize, and close commissioning punch list items.

      5. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

      1. Interface with OEMs, contractors, and engineering teams to ensure alignment on technical requirements and timelines.
      2. Coordinate activities between mechanical, electrical, and operational teams to ensure integrated system readiness.
      3. Participate in technical meetings, progress reviews, and readiness assessments with project stakeholders.
      4. Ensure vendor deliverables, documentation, and support meet contractual and operational expectations.

      6. Documentation & Handover

      1. Ensure completeness and accuracy of all commissioning documentation including test reports, certificates, and as-built drawings.
      2. Develop and maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, system performance, and defects.
      3. Support preparation of handover documentation and ensure smooth transition to operations and maintenance teams.
      4. Verify all EC&I systems are fully documented and aligned with operational requirements.

      7. Training & Capability Development

      1. Provide hands-on training and technical coaching to operations and maintenance teams on EC&I systems.
      2. Develop training materials, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
      3. Support knowledge transfer initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability of system operations.

      8. Health, Safety & Risk Management

      1. Ensure all commissioning and operational readiness activities are conducted in full compliance with HSE standards.
      2. Participate in risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation planning related to EC&I systems.
      3. Enforce safe work practices including lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical isolation, and permit-to-work processes.
      4. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure zero harm during commissioning and startup phases.

      9. Continuous Improvement

      1. Identify opportunities to improve commissioning processes, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
      2. Capture lessons learned and implement best practices for future projects and operations.
      3. Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies and reliability programs.

      10. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

      1. Commissioning milestones delivered on schedule and within scope
      2. EC&I system availability and reliability post-handover
      3. Number of defects at handover (target: zero critical defects)
      4. Mean time to resolve system faults
      5. Compliance with safety standards (zero incidents)
