Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
1 Environmental Monitoring
1.1 Conduct routine monitoring of environmental parameters such as water, air, noise, and biodiversity.
1.2 Ensure samples are collected, recorded, and transported according to procedures.
2 Compliance Support
2.1 Assist in inspections to verify environmental compliance and support incident investigations.
2.2 Identify non-conformances and report findings to the Environmental Superintendent.
3 Data Management & Reporting
3.1 Maintain accurate records and logs of field data and sampling results.
3.2 Contribute environmental reports and summaries as required.
4 Supervision & Training
4.1 Oversee and guide the work of Environmental Assistants in sampling and field duties.
4.2 Ensure proper safety and environmental practices are followed in all tasks.
Site Support
5.1 Assist in the implementation of erosion control, spill prevention, and waste management practices.
5.2 Participate in awareness campaigns and training sessions for site personnel.
5.3 This role may include additional duties and responsibilities not specifically listed, as needed to support operational or environmental objectives. Key areas of involvement may include environmental monitoring, waste and water management, inspections and audits, effluent treatment, biodiversity and conservation initiatives, climate change, database management, monitoring of tailings dams and waste rock dumps, closure planning and rehabilitation, chemical and hazardous materials management, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Natural Resources, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in environmental fieldwork or compliance monitoring.
• Practical knowledge of environmental monitoring techniques and equipment.
• Experience in mining, industrial, or infrastructure projects is an advantage.
• Experience with data management systems, including GIS, is an advantage

Working Conditions
• Field-based role requiring regular outdoor work at mine, rail, or port facilities.

Health and Safety
1.1. Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
1.2. Always wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, AML prescribed uniform, and steel-toe boots.
1.3. Use additional respiratory protection when exposed to dust and fumes.
1.4. Follow protocols for reporting and addressing unsafe conditions immediately.
1.5. Maintain fitness levels to manage physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy equipment and working in
extreme conditions.
1.6. Actively promote the compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
1.7. Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to the Company and statutory requirements, and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
1.8. Ensure all health and hygiene risks in the work areas are identified and reported.
Environment

1.2. Seek advice and assistance from the Environment team in the development and implementation of improvement programs to achieve aspects such as agreed eco-efficiency targets, hazardous waste disposal and spill clean-up.
