Job Description

  1. Maintenance Execution & Planning
    1. Lead the execution of all mechanical maintenance activities, including preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance across Port MPQ equipment such as conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders, and auxiliary systems.
    2. Develop, review, and implement maintenance plans, schedules, and work orders in alignment with operational requirements.
    3. Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently, within schedule, and in accordance with OEM specifications and company standards.
    4. Coordinate daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
    5. Monitor maintenance backlog and prioritize work based on risk, criticality, and operational impact.
  2. Equipment Reliability & Performance Management
    1. Ensure high reliability and availability of mechanical systems through proactive maintenance and monitoring.
    2. Analyze equipment performance trends and identify potential failure risks.
    3. Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  3. Oversee condition monitoring activities (vibration, temperature, lubrication) to support predictive maintenance strategies.
    1. Continuously improve asset performance and lifecycle management practices.
  4. Team Leadership & Supervision
    1. Lead, supervise, and mentor mechanical technicians, artisans, and contractors.
    2. Allocate tasks, manage workload distribution, and ensure effective team performance.
    3. Promote skills development, knowledge transfer, and continuous capability building within the team.
    4. Enforce discipline, accountability, and adherence to maintenance procedures and standards.
    5. Foster a strong teamwork culture and effective communication within the maintenance team and across departments.
  5. Shutdown & Major Maintenance Management
    1. Plan and execute major equipment shutdowns, overhauls, and inspections.
    2. Coordinate resources, materials, and contractors to ensure successful shutdown execution.
    3. Ensure all shutdown activities are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
    4. Review post-shutdown reports and identify improvement opportunities for future maintenance events.
  6. Spare Parts & Resource Management
    1. Ensure availability of critical spare parts, tools, and consumables to support maintenance activities.
    2. Work closely with supply chain and warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce downtime risk.
    3. Monitor usage of parts and materials to ensure cost control and efficiency.
    4. Provide input into spare parts strategy and critical equipment stocking requirements.
  7. Vendor & Contractor Coordination
    1. Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors performing mechanical work on-site.
    2. Ensure contractor compliance with safety, quality, and technical requirements.
    3. Liaise with OEMs and vendors for technical support, troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades.
    4. Review contractor deliverables, work quality, and performance against agreed standards.
  8. Documentation & Compliance
    1. Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP).
    2. Review and update maintenance procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
    3. Ensure all activities comply with company policies, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
    4. Contribute to audits and inspections related to maintenance and asset management.
  9. Health, Safety & Risk Management
    1. Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in full compliance with HSE standards and procedures.
    2. Lead safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and hazard identification exercises.
    3. Enforce strict adherence to permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and isolation procedures.
    4. Identify and mitigate mechanical risks associated with equipment operation and maintenance.
    5. Promote a strong safety culture with a focus on zero harm.
  10. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
    1. Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency, equipment reliability, and cost performance.
    2. Implement best practices in maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
    3. Drive initiatives to reduce downtime, improve MTBF, and optimize MTTR.
    4. Capture lessons learned and implement improvements across maintenance processes.
    5. Support reliability engineering programs and asset management strategies.

    1. Equipment availability and reliability (uptime)
    2. Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
    3. Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
