Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
1. Production Execution and Operational Control
1.1. Execute short-term mine plans by coordinating drill & blast, loading, and hauling activities to achieve
planned tonnage and material movement targets.
1.2. Ensure strict adherence to production schedules, mining sequences, and grade control requirements.
1.3. Monitor real-time production performance and adjust operational strategies to minimize delays and
deviations.
1.4. Drive shift-level accountability to ensure consistent delivery against daily and weekly production KPIs.
2. Fleet Management and Equipment Optimization
2.1. Optimize performance of mining fleets (excavators, haul trucks, drills, dozers) to maximize productivity
and availability.
2.2. Utilize fleet management systems (FMS) and dispatch tools to monitor cycle times, payload compliance,
queuing, and equipment utilization.
2.3. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in haulage circuits, loading zones, and dumping areas.
2.4. Drive improvements in fuel efficiency, tire life, and maintenance coordination to reduce operating costs.
3. Drill and Blast Optimization
3.1. Oversee drilling and blasting operations to ensure optimal fragmentation, minimal dilution, and improved downstream productivity.
3.2. Ensure compliance with blast design parameters, including burden, spacing, powder factor, and timing
sequences.
3.3. Analyze blast performance and fragmentation results to optimize loading and crushing efficiency.
3.4. Coordinate closely with technical services to align blast designs with operational requirements.
4. Production Monitoring, Reporting, and Data Analysis
4.1. Ensure accurate capture, validation, and reporting of production data across all mining activities.
4.2. Monitor and analyze key KPIs such as productivity rates, equipment utilization, delays, and cycle times.
4.3. Drive data-driven decision-making through real-time dashboards and performance reporting systems.
4.4. Ensure alignment between planned vs. actual production and investigate operational variances.
5. Safety, Risk, and Continuous Improvement
5.1. Enforce strict compliance with safety standards across all mining operations, promoting a zero-harm
culture.
5.2. Identify and mitigate operational risks related to equipment, haul roads, blasting, and working
conditions.
5.3. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
5.4. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.
Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8-12 years’ experience in open-pit mining operations, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory
or managerial role.
• Strong experience in drill & blast, load & haul operations, and production execution.
• Proven experience with fleet management systems (e.g., Modular, MineStar, Wenco).
• Strong understanding of mining KPIs, production reporting, and operational cost drivers.

Working Conditions
• Based in a remote mining environment with a rotational roster.
• Frequent exposure to mining operations, including pits, workshops, and haulage routes.
• Requires shift work aligned with 24/7 mining operations.

Health and Safety
1.1. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
1.2. Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety
procedures, and emergency protocols.
1.3. Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the
designated supervisor or safety officer.
1.4. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal
health and safety.
1.5. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained
and used correctly.
1.6. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and
first aid protocols.
1.7. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
1.8. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML
safety guidelines.
1.9. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
1.9.1. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe
behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
1.9.2. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and
suggestions for improving workplace safety.
1.9.3. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by
company policy and regulations.
Environment
1.1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high
levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental
laws.
1.2. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends,
and address areas for improvement.
1.3. Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with
company policies and legal requirements.
1.4. Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear
expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
1.5. Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and
develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
