Job Description

  1. Electrical Maintenance & Operations
    1. Lead and support execution of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance for LV and HV electrical systems across Port MPQ equipment, including conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, and ship loaders.
    2. Ensure all electrical assets—including transformers, switchgear, substations, MCCs, VFDs, cables, and protection systems—are maintained to optimal operating conditions.
    3. Develop and implement maintenance schedules aligned with operational requirements and equipment criticality.
    4. Support daily operations by ensuring reliable power supply and immediate response to electrical faults.
  2. Power Distribution & System Reliability:

    a. Manage and monitor LV/HV power distribution networks to ensure stability, safety, and efficiency.

    b. Ensure proper load distribution, system protection coordination, and fault isolation across the network.

    c. Analyze system performance to identify weaknesses and implement improvements for reliability and energy efficiency.

    d. Support continuous power supply to all port operations with minimal interruptions.

  3. Switching Operations & Electrical Safety:

    a. Plan, authorize, and execute HV/LV switching operations in accordance with approved procedures and safety regulations.

    d. Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety standards, including isolation procedures and safe energization practices.

    c. Implement and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work systems for all electrical maintenance activities.

    Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe work execution in high-voltage environments.

  4. 4. Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting
  5. Lead diagnosis and resolution of electrical faults, failures, and system disturbances.
    1. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring electrical issues and implement corrective actions.
    2. Collaborate with mechanical, automation, and operations teams to resolve complex cross-functional issues.
    3. Maintain fault logs and ensure timely closure of electrical defects and outstanding issues.
  6. System Upgrades & Projects
    1. Support electrical system upgrades, modifications, and expansion projects.
    2. Participate in the design review and implementation of improvements to LV/HV systems.
    3. Coordinate installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and infrastructure.
    4. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  7. Vendor & Contractor Management
    1. Coordinate and supervise contractors and third-party service providers performing electrical work.
    2. Ensure all external parties comply with safety, quality, and technical requirements.
    3. Liaise with OEMs and vendors for technical support, troubleshooting, and equipment servicing.
    4. Review contractor work quality and approve completion of tasks.
  8. Documentation & Compliance
    1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electrical drawings, schematics, single line diagrams, and technical documentation.
    2. Ensure all maintenance activities and system updates are recorded in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP).
    3. Ensure compliance with company electrical standards, international codes, and regulatory requirements.
    4. Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  9. Training & Capability Development
    1. Provide technical guidance and training to electricians and maintenance teams on LV/HV systems.
    2. Develop operational procedures, maintenance guidelines, and troubleshooting manuals.
    3. Support competency development and knowledge transfer to ensure sustainable operations.
  10. Health, Safety & Risk Management
    1. Ensure all electrical work is performed in strict compliance with company HSE policies and electrical safety standards.
    2. Lead safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and hazard identification activities.
    3. Enforce safe work practices, including energy isolation, arc flash protection, and safe approach distances.
    4. Promote a zero-harm culture and proactively manage electrical hazards and risks.
  11. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
    1. Identify opportunities to enhance electrical system reliability, efficiency, and performance.
    2. Drive improvements in maintenance strategies, energy consumption, and system optimization.
    3. Analyze equipment performance data to support reliability engineering initiatives.
    4. Capture lessons learned and implement best practices across port maintenance operations.
  12. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    1. Electrical system availability and uptime
    2. Reduction in unplanned power outages and electrical faults
    3. Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) for electrical failures
    4. Compliance with maintenance schedules and standards

  13. Qualification
    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  14. Experience
    1. Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in electrical maintenance within mining, port, or heavy industrial environments
    2. Proven experience with LV and HV systems, including switching operations
    3. Experience with bulk material handling systems is highly desirable
  15. Technical Knowledge
    1. LV/HV power distribution systems
    2. Transformers, switchgear, and substations
    3. Protection relays and fault detection systems
    4. Motor control systems (MCCs, VFDs)
    5. Electrical safety standards and switching procedures
    6. Preventive and predictive maintenance practices
    7. Electrical drawings and schematics
