Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Review Duties and Responsibilities of a Rescue & Fire Heavy Duty Driver.

1.1. Operate and drive heavy-duty fire and rescue vehicles safely in both emergency and routine conditions.

1.2. Respond to fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous materials incidents as a key member of the emergency response team

1.3. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; compile reports and recommend corrective actions.

1.4. Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and fire service training.

1.5. Coordinate and deliver fire and rescue training and induction programs for staff and contractors.

1.6. Ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce its compliance.

1.7. Ensure vehicles and onboard equipment (e.g., hoses, pumps, rescue tools) are maintained in operational Condition.

1.8. Liaise with regulatory bodies, emergency services, and external safety consultants as required.

1.9. Participate in emergency response planning and drills.

1.10. Promote a safety-first culture across the organization.

1.11. Ensure all fire and rescue equipment, vehicles, and facilities are properly maintained and operational.

1.12. Conduct regular training drills and ensure team competency in firefighting, rescue techniques, and emergency medical response.

1.13. Tailor training materials to meet specific industry, site, or job requirements.

1.14. Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, awareness programs, and engagement initiatives.

1.15. Conduct daily vehicle checks, refueling, washing, and inspections under maintenance protocols.

1.16. Support firefighting operations by supplying water, positioning apparatus, and operating pumps and systems.

1.17. Assist in rescue operations, including confined space, high-angle, and vehicle extrication.

1.18. Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing S afety culture.

1.19. Participate in drills, training exercises, and emergency preparedness programs.

1.20. Advise management on fire and rescue legislation and best practices.

1.21. Report vehicle issues, accidents, or defects promptly and accurately.

1.22. Provide incident reports, shift summaries, and performance evaluations of personnel.

1.23. Liaise with other emergency services, site operations, and regulatory authorities as required.

1.24. Participate in the planning and execution of fire prevention and public education programs.

1.25. Maintain accurate logbooks, inspection reports, and activity records.

1.26. Comply with site safety regulations, driving rules, and emergency response procedures.

2. Continuous Improvement

2.1. Keep updated on the latest fire and rescue laws, regulations, and technological advancements in the mining

industry and the best inspection practices. Proactively integrate new industry best practices into AML’s inspection

framework to enhance fire safety.
3. Collaboration with Other Departments

3.1. Work closely with other departments, such as operations and maintenance, to ensure a coordinated approach to fire equipment maintenance and safety.

3.2. Facilitate regular staff meetings and joint inspections with operations and fire service teams to improve overall

workplace safety.

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

• Valid Heavy-Duty Driver’s License

• Diploma or Certificate in Fire Science, Emergency Management, or related field.

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience operating heavy-duty vehicles, preferably in emergency services or industrial

settings.

• Firefighter I and II Certification (NFPA or equivalent).

• Valid First Aid and CPR (Advanced Life Support/EMT preferred).

• Firefighting training (e.g., Firefighter I/II or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Core Competencies / Skills

• Ability to work in high-stress, dynamic environments.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.

• Physically fit and able to work in demanding and high-risk environments.

• Good understanding of road safety, emergency response protocols, and site HS requirements.

• Report writing skills for documentation and compliance reporting.

• Experience with fire apparatus, pump operations, and rescue equipment.

Health and Safety

1.1.Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.

1.2.Participate in health, safety, and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

1.3.Report any health, safety, and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.

1.4.Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety.

1.5.Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.

1.6.Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.

1.7.Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.

1.8.Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following the manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.

1.9.Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.

1.9.1.Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.

1.9.2.Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.

1.9.3.Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.

Environment

1.1.Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.

1.2.Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.

1.3.Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.

1.4.Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.

1.5.Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices
