Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s

1. Coordinate Mining Operations

1.1. Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating daily mining activities to meet production targets efficiently.


2. Monitor Equipment and Workforce

2.1. Track availability, performance, and maintenance schedules of mining equipment and coordinate with

operators and maintenance teams.


3. Ensure Safety Compliance

3.1. Enforce adherence to all health and safety policies, conduct safety briefings, and report incidents or hazards

promptly.


4. Maintain Operational Records

4.1. Prepare and update daily production reports, equipment logs, and incident records for management review.

5. Support Resource Allocation

5.1. Assist in mobilizing labor, machinery, and materials required for mining activities to optimize productivity.


6. Liaise with Stakeholders

6.1. Communicate effectively with mining engineers, supervisors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth

operations.


7. Facilitate Training and Development

7.1. Coordinate training sessions for staff on safety procedures, equipment use, and operational best practices.


8. Assist in Environmental Compliance

8.1. Support implementation of environmental regulations and monitor site conditions to minimize impact.


Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Geology, Mineral Processing, or related discipline.

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in mining operations or mine coordination roles.

• Experience in coordinating activities such as drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling, and dispatch.

• Exposure to mining safety and environmental compliance protocols is preferred.

• Understanding of mining methods, equipment, and operational workflows.

• Proficient in using mine management software and basic office tools (MS Office suite).

• Ability to read and interpret mine plans, schedules, and reports.

• Strong communication and coordination skills to liaise between various departments.

Working Conditions

• This is a field-based role in active mining areas, requiring regular exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and heavy

machinery.

• The role involves periodic presence in site offices, 6 days a week, and may require availability during weekends or public holidays.

• The job involves frequent walking, climbing, and standing across uneven terrain, and may require commuting

between different mine sites.

• Health and safety requirements include strict use of PPE, participation in safety drills, and timely reporting of

incidents. Health and Safety

1.1. Enforce adherence to all relevant mining safety laws, company HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies, and standard operating procedures.

1.2. Perform routine inspections of work areas, equipment, and haul roads to identify hazards or unsafe practices.

1.3. Lead or support daily pre-shift safety briefings and actively contribute to monthly or incident-driven safety meetings.

1.4. Ensure all personnel (workers, visitors, contractors) wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

1.5. Promptly report any safety incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions. Assist safety officers with investigations and follow-up actions.

1.6. Be familiar with emergency response procedures for accidents, fires, or environmental events and help conduct regular drills.

1.7. Encourage workers to follow safety protocols, report hazards, and adopt a proactive approach to risk prevention.

1.8. Ensure that all high-risk activities (e.g., blasting, maintenance inside confined spaces) are conducted under a valid permit with proper safety precautions.

1.9. Coordinate with operators and maintenance teams to ensure machinery is operated within safe limits and maintenance schedules are followed.


Environment

1.1. Ensure all mining activities follow local, regional, and national environmental laws and guidelines.

1.2. Support implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and mining lease conditions.

1.3. Monitor segregation, handling, and disposal of mining and non-mining waste (e.g., oil, chemicals, overburden, domestic waste).

1.4. Prevent improper dumping or discharge into land or water sources.

1.5. Ensure use of dust suppression measures (e.g., water sprinkling on haul roads, covering stockpiles).

1.6. Monitor vehicle emissions and encourage the use of well-maintained equipment to reduce air pollution.

1.7. Promote efficient water usage for dust control, drilling, and domestic needs.

1.8. Ensure no contamination of surface or groundwater from mining operations.

1.9. Assist in monitoring and controlling noise levels from blasting, drilling, and machinery.

1.10. Comply with prescribed limits and avoid working near sensitive zones without mitigation measures.

1.11. Prevent oil spills, fuel leaks, and surface disturbance beyond approved mining areas.

1.12. Support rehabilitation and backfilling in mined-out areas.

1.13. Avoid disturbance to flora and fauna, especially in eco-sensitive zones.

1.14. Support plantation drives or greenbelt development as per mine closure or reclamation plans.

1.15. Assist in maintaining logs of environmental inspections, incidents, and compliance reports.

1.16. Support internal and external audits by providing accurate environmental data.

1.17. Participate in and help organize training for workers on eco-friendly practices and environmental responsibilities.
