Job Description

1.Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Monitor and track all material movements (receiving, storage, issuance, transfers) to ensure system accuracy.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and escalate low or nil stock situations for replenishment.
  • Support periodic stock counts (monthly, quarterly, annual) and investigate variances.
  • Ensure proper bin allocation and storage of materials in accordance with warehouse standards.

2. Receiving & Dispatch Operations

  • Receive and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Ensure timely processing of Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) in coordination with SAP Clerk/Supervisor.
  • Identify discrepancies, segregate incorrect materials, and escalate for resolution.
  • Coordinate safe loading/offloading and dispatch of materials across warehouses.

3. Systems & Data Integrity (SAP/ERP)

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions in SAP/ERP systems.
  • Track and reconcile daily reservation slips with issued materials.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all transactions.

4. Warehouse Operations & Housekeeping

  • Ensure safe, secure, and efficient storage and handling of materials.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within warehouse premises.
  • Monitor warehouse equipment performance and report issues promptly.

5. Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to AML warehouse procedures, policies, and operating standards.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend efficiency enhancements.
  • Support implementation of best practices in warehouse management.

6. Reporting

  • Prepare and track warehouse operational reports including:
  • GRN processing
  • Material discrepancy reports (MDR)
  • Stock movement reports
  • Equipment availability reports
  • Submit timely and accurate reports to Warehouse Superintendent.

7. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Comply with all AML health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • High School Diploma (WASSCE/WAEC)
  • Certificate/Diploma in Supply Chain Management (advantage)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in warehouse/store control or similar role

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems
  • Inventory management and warehouse operations knowledge
  • Basic reporting and data tracking skills

Working Condition

  • The role is based at AML operational sites (Yekepa and Buchanan) and requires working within an active mining and industrial warehouse environment.
  • The incumbent will be required to work rostered shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and extended hours as operationally required.
  • The position involves physical activities, including lifting, carrying, and handling materials (up to approximately 50 lbs), as well as prolonged standing and walking within the warehouse.
  • Exposure to varying environmental conditions including dust, noise, heat, and outdoor weather conditions may occur.
  • The role requires strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, including mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent interaction with warehouse personnel, transport teams, and end users is required to support operational efficiency.
  • The position may require coordination across multiple warehouse locations and movement between sites when necessary.

  1. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
    1. Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
    2. Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.
    3. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety.
    4. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.
    5. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.
    6. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
    7. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
    8. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
      1. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
      2. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
      3. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.

Environment

  1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
    1. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.
    2. Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
    3. Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
    4. Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
