Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement AML's maintenance strategy and asset management framework.
- Establish long-term maintenance plans aligned with corporate and operational objectives.
- Lead the transformation of maintenance practices through reliability-centered maintenance and predictive maintenance programs.
- Provide expert technical guidance to executive leadership on asset optimization and lifecycle management.
Maintenance Management
- Direct all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, facilities and infrastructure maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and operational reliability across all sites.
- Oversee preventative, corrective, predictive and shutdown maintenance programs.
- Monitor asset condition and implement interventions to improve performance and longevity.
Budget and Cost Management
- Develop, manage and control annual maintenance budgets.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety or operational performance.
- Monitor expenditure, maintenance costs, and asset lifecycle costs.
- Ensure effective management of maintenance contracts and service providers.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop maintenance teams across all operational locations.
- Coach, mentor, and build succession plans for national employees.
- Drive employee engagement, accountability, and high-performance culture.
- Ensure workforce competency through training and development initiatives.
Safety, Health, Environment and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
- Promote a zero-harm safety culture within all maintenance operations.
- Lead investigations into major maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, safety and quality management systems.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Operations, Projects, Procurement, Logistics, Finance, HR and HS& E teams.
- Manage relationships with OEMs, contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Provide regular maintenance performance reports to executive management.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive reliability improvement projects and maintenance excellence programs.
- Implement KPIs and benchmarking practices aligned with international standards.
- Champion innovation, digitalization, and adoption of modern maintenance technologies.

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Knowledge
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Business Administration (MBA), or related field preferred.
Professional Certifications (Advantageous)
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Chartered Engineer status.
- Asset Management Certification (ISO 55000-related).
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience.
- At least 10 years in senior maintenance management positions within mining, heavy industry, steel, rail, port, energy or large industrial operations.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance teams.
- International and expatriate experience in developing countries highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience managing large maintenance budgets and complex assets.

Working Conditions
- Based across AML’s Liberian operations in Monrovia, Buchanan, Greenhill and Yekepa.
- Frequent travel between operational sites required.
- Work in industrial, mining, rail, port and office environments.
- Work outside normal business hours during major shutdowns, emergencies or critical operational requirements.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, machinery, heavy equipment, noise, dust and changing weather conditions.
- Compliance with all site access, medical fitness and PPE requirements is mandatory.
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards and procedures.
- Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.
- Assist in identifying workplace hazards & participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health & safety.
- Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks / environments and ensure that it is maintained & used correctly.
- Be familiar with emergency response procedures, evacuation routes, assembly points and first aid protocols.
- Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries or illnesses.
- Operate machinery, tools and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
- Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.

- Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
- Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends and address areas for improvement.
- Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
- Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
