Village Care Center NURSING POOL GUIDELINES

VCC Nursing Pool is a staffing plan and program created to provide flexibility with the staffing assignment schedule throughout the Village Care Center. Associates working exclusively in the Pool are classified as PRN and scheduled as needed. Guidelines regarding the VCC PRN staffing plan include:

  1. PRN associates are not eligible for Paid Time Off or health benefits; however, they may contribute to the TSA plan offered by the Village per the current provisions of the TSA plan.
  2. Nursing Pool associates must work a minimum of two (2) shifts per month. At least one (1) of these shifts must include a weekend shift (weekend shift is defined as beginning Saturday at 7:00a and ending at 7:00a on Monday). Additionally, Nursing Pool associates will be scheduled to work at least three (3) of the six (6) holidays, as defined by JKV Associate Policy #327, per calendar year. Failure to meet this minimum requirement may jeopardize the PRN status and result in separation of employment. Additional hours are usually available upon request. Scheduled switch shift agreements will not count as meeting the minimum shift requirement.
  3. Nursing Pool associates must use UKG to choose their preferred work shifts (hours/days) for the upcoming month by the 20th of the prior month, but no later than the 1st day of that month. (Example: by Dec 20th for January, but no later than January 1st).

  5. Nursing Pool associates must work where assigned throughout the care center.
  6. Failure to be compliant with the guidelines in any 3 months within a 12-month rolling calendar may result in separation of employment.

About John Knox Village

What Is John Knox Village?

Widely recognized as one of the best and most comprehensive retirement communities in the Greater Kansas City Area, John Knox Village is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) that provides senior housing, countless services and amenities, and long-term healthcare services.

Because successful aging is about more than just growing older, the Village’s model for retirement living includes finding ways to enhance each resident’s potential. In addition to a long list of activities, classes and travel opportunities, residents can enjoy a 9-hole executive golf course, multiple restaurants, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a bowling alley and much more – without ever leaving the Village’s 400-plus acre campus. While residents enjoy their retirement, the Village takes care of their housework, maintenance and repairs.

The Village also provides long-term health care services on campus if ever needed. Services include home care, residential care/assisted living, skilled nursing, and hospice.

Because the Village aims to enrich lives and build community for older adults regardless of where they live, many services are offered beyond the borders of its campus. The Village offers a variety of health care services to older adults who live in 10 counties in Missouri and Kansas.
