Phlebotomy
The LPN Part‑Time Nights position (24 hours weekly, 7p-7a) is a key role on the 5 South Observation Unit. The Licensed Practical Nurse works under RN delegation to provide direct, patient‑centered care, perform focused assessments, and support safe, efficient patient flow. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within the LPN scope of practice.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Performs focused assessments and reports changes to the RN
Supports the RN’s plan of care with timely interventions
Communicates effectively with physicians and the care team
Participates in hourly rounding and maintains patient safety
Uses electronic medical records accurately
Updates patient records and escalates concerns appropriately
Participates in quality‑improvement efforts, including daily huddles
Implements physician orders within LPN scope
Administers medications via approved routes and documents per policy
Uses phlebotomy and blood‑draw skills when needed (helpful but not required)
Required Licensures and Certifications
Active state LPN license
BCLS required within 90 days
ACLS required after 6 months
NIHSS preferred
12‑Lead EKG training available
