Job Description

As a Licensed Practical Nurse for our Medical Observation unit at Saint Luke's East Hospital, you will provide care to a variety of conditions and treatment plans including; stroke, neuro, spine, transplant and trauma rehab patients. This medical observation nurse position will practice at the top of the LPN licensure while adhering to the SLHS policies and procedures. With RN guidance and oversight, the LPN will perform assessments, administer medications, and more, while collaborating with various care team members including therapists, providers, and other ancillary departments.

This is a great opportunity to work with leading technology at our Lees Summit hospital.

Full Time Day Shift (3, 12 hour shifts weekly)

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process
  • Performs patient care
  • Delegates patient care tasks
  • Supervises other patient care staff.
  • Consults with other members of the health care team when indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and abides by policies, rules, guidelines, and procedures.

To be successful in the position, you will need to be flexible, adaptable, open to feedback and eager to learn. Inpatient experience is a plus, but not required. Experience with Dialysis, Transplant or Neuro preferred, but not required. Strong communication with a desire to work with a care team to provide patient care is important. We are looking for a strong team player who is passionate about nursing and wants to develop relationships with their patients.
