Job Description

Under the direction and guidance of the registered nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Physician performs a variety of clinical/ clerical duties and tasks to provide effective patient care.

1. Taking vital signs Measuring and recording blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate.
2. Drawing blood Performing phlebotomy to collect blood samples for testing.
3. Assisting with procedures Helping physicians during examinations and minor surgical procedures.
4. Collecting samples Gathering urine, stool, and other specimens for laboratory testing.
5. Maintaining equipment Ensuring medical equipment is clean, sterilized, and in good working order.
6. Stocking supplies Keeping track of medical supplies and restocking as necessary.
7. Assisting with patient flow Helping manage the flow of patients through the clinic to minimize wait times.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education Required HS Diploma or Equivalence
2. License/Certification/Registration(s) Required Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program
3. Experience/Skills Required- One (1) year previous experience in a medical setting of relevant experience required. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of Computer Technology preferred. Successful completion of St. Barnabas Hospital orientation.
