POSITION SUMMARY
EVP Eyecare is a privately held, portfolio company of The Cortec Group. Based in Denver, Colorado, EVP owns and operates a super-regional network of eyecare practices and surgical centers that conduct business under premier brands in Colorado, Texas and Arizona. We believe that delivering on an outstanding patient experience starts with building an outstanding employee experience.
Our mission is to improve people’s lives through better vision and outstanding patient experiences.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports safe, efficient perioperative care in the ambulatory surgery center under the direction of a Registered Nurse, physician, and/or anesthesia provider, consistent with Colorado law and organizational policy. The LPN contributes to pre-operative and post-anesthesia care of adult surgical patients by collecting patient data, performing focused observations, obtaining and documenting vital signs, reinforcing patient education, preparing rooms and equipment, and assisting with patient flow, discharge readiness, and inventory management. The LPN reports changes in patient condition promptly to the supervising RN and provider and performs only those duties within LPN scope, training, documented competency, and facility policy.
Role is limited to functions within Colorado LPN scope of practice and facility policy. The LPN may support pre-op and recovery/PACU activities for stable patients, perform focused data collection, obtain and document vital signs, provide patient education and discharge reinforcement, administer medications and IV therapy as permitted by Colorado law and documented competency, and promptly report changes in patient condition to the supervising RN/provider. The LPN does not independently perform the comprehensive nursing assessment, initial patient assessment requiring RN judgment, develop the nursing plan of care, or provide independent RN-only functions reserved by law, regulation, accreditation standards, or facility policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide nursing care to ASC patients within Colorado LPN scope of practice and under the direction/delegation of the supervising RN, physician, and/or anesthesia provider, as applicable.
• Prepare patients for surgery by obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing required paperwork/checklists, confirming readiness elements are present, and reporting variances to the RN.
• Perform focused observations of patient status in pre-op and PACU as assigned; promptly communicate changes in condition, abnormal findings, uncontrolled pain, nausea, bleeding, or discharge concerns to the supervising RN and provider.
• Reinforce pre-op and discharge instructions previously established by the RN/provider and document education provided.
• Assist with patient flow, room turnover, stocking, equipment checks, specimen handling, and maintenance of clean, organized pre-op/PACU areas.
• Accurately document care, interventions, observations, communications, and patient responses in the medical record according to policy and within the shift worked.
• Administer medications and perform IV-related tasks only as permitted by Colorado law, current licensure/certification, documented competency, provider orders, and ASC policy.
• Participate in narcotic counts, controlled-substance security practices, infection prevention processes, time-out/readiness support activities, and other regulatory and patient safety requirements as assigned.
• Escalate immediately to the RN/provider for changes requiring comprehensive nursing assessment, clinical judgment beyond LPN scope, or intervention outside assigned competency.
• Maintain current knowledge of ASC policies, emergency procedures, AAAHC/CMS standards, and patient safety expectations applicable to the role.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
