BxT is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Bapco Energies, bringing together complementary market expertise, trading capabilities and regional presence.

Based in Dubai, the LPG Trader will join BxT's trading activities with responsibility for developing and managing physical and paper LPG trading opportunities, with a strong focus on commercial performance, physical optimization and shipping economics.

This is a hands-on trading position requiring an experienced LPG professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy from the outset. The successful candidate will combine a deep understanding of global LPG markets with strong physical trading expertise and a thorough command of chartering and freight economics.

Activities

  • Trade physical LPG cargoes across spot and term markets, identifying and executing profitable trading and arbitrage opportunities.
  • Develop and manage LPG trading strategies across physical and paper markets, with clear accountability for risk and value creation.
  • Identify and monetize optionality across cargoes, locations, timing, specifications, logistics and freight.
  • Assess global LPG fundamentals, trade flows, supply and demand dynamics, pricing structures and regional arbitrage economics to develop actionable trading views.
  • Understand and actively manage the relationship between LPG and related markets, including naphtha, gasoline and other relevant products.
  • Take an active role in the chartering of vessels required for LPG trading activities, integrating freight strategy directly into trading decisions and cargo economics.
  • Evaluate vessel availability, freight rates, voyage economics, positioning, laycans, terminal constraints, demurrage exposure and other shipping considerations when assessing and executing trades.
  • Work closely with shipbrokers, owners, operators and internal stakeholders to negotiate and execute commercially competitive freight solutions.
  • Evaluate the full economics of physical transactions, including commodity value, freight, terminal costs, operational constraints and associated risks before committing to trades.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations from opportunity identification through contractual agreement, chartering, execution, loading and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with LPG producers, suppliers, customers, trading counterparties, shipowners, brokers and other relevant market participants.
  • Anticipate and evaluate the impact of trading decisions from a market risk, credit, operational, shipping and financial perspective.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Shipping, Risk, Credit, Finance and other trading teams to ensure efficient execution and optimization of the portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development of BxT's LPG activity, market presence and commercial network.

Accountabilities

  • Accountable for contribution to the LPG trading P&L and the profitable development of the portfolio and associated trading strategies.
  • Responsible for managing trading positions within delegated risk limits and applicable governance.
  • Accountable for ensuring that physical trading and chartering decisions are commercially coherent and appropriately reflect freight and operational risk.
  • Responsible for compliance with contractual obligations related to spot, term, physical, paper and shipping activities.
  • Ensure trades and chartering activities are conducted in accordance with applicable compliance, sanctions, HSE, vetting and internal control requirements.
  • Maintain the highest standards of business integrity, ethics and professional conduct expected within the BxT joint venture environment.

Candidate Profile

  • University degree in a relevant discipline such as Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven front-office LPG trading experience, gained within a major energy company, commodity trading house, or comparable physical trading environment, with demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and contribute directly to P&L.
  • Deep understanding of physical LPG markets, global trade flows, pricing structures, arbitrage economics and market fundamentals, combined with strong knowledge of physical and paper trading, including derivatives and risk management.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of LPG shipping and chartering is essential, including vessel selection, freight markets, voyage economics, laycans, terminal restrictions and demurrage, with the ability to integrate freight economics into trading decisions.
  • Strong understanding of the interaction between commodity and freight economics, with the ability to identify and monetize physical trading opportunities.
  • Established commercial network across relevant LPG counterparties and, ideally, shipowners and brokers, combined with strong analytical, commercial and negotiation skills and a proven ability to create value.
  • Strong understanding of trading, operational and contractual risks, with the ability to make sound decisions in fast-moving and volatile markets.
  • Highly autonomous and decisive, with strong communication and collaboration skills across Trading, Operations, Shipping and support functions.
  • High standards of integrity, with a strong commitment to compliance, safety and responsible trading.
  • Fluent English is essential; additional languages are an advantage. Willingness to travel when required.
