
Reporting to the Director, the Low Carbon Resilience Manager is responsible for all aspects of energy conservation initiatives at assigned locations in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). The Manager provides leadership and coordinates the effective identification, promotion, implementation and evaluation of energy conservation programs including the development of a long-term strategic energy management plan, ensures that communication networks are formed, maintained and support a centralized environmental reporting approach across the organization that is aligned with provincial environmental initiatives and targets. Negotiates and facilitates consensus with internal and external stakeholders regarding energy-focused project plans and represents the organization on related industry committees to meet long term energy initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Building Technology or related field, a professional designation and additional training in energy management/sustainability, supplemented by seven (7) to ten (10) years’ recent related experience planning, implementing and operationalizing energy management programs in a large complex multi-site environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.ROLE SPECIFIC EXPERTISE:• Comprehensive knowledge of building mechanical, electrical and building automation systems.• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with energy efficient technology related to lighting systems, HVAC systems, cooling plant equipment, heating plant equipment and control systems.• Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and experience with capital and energy projects.• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in project management, contract management, budget development, business case development, financial controls and analysis.• Thorough understanding of available resources for projects and applicable stakeholder groups.• Demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate and gain consensus with various stakeholders and teams.• Ability to maintain projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.• Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.• Ability to work independently and as a member as a team.• Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications.• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.MANAGEMENT VALUES:You care for everyone:• You’re compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive to the needs of others.• You are respectful, treating people as equals, and valuing others’ perspectives and differences.• You are appreciative of others’ efforts and give them praise when it’s due.You are always learning:• You are open minded, always receptive to different perspectives and ways of doing things.• You are curious and ask questions to find a deeper understanding.• You share your expertise and mentor others by sharing your knowledge and experience.You strive for better results:• You are accountable, and take responsibility for what you say, what you do, and who you engage in achieving better results.• You’re a solution finder, empowered to solve the challenges we face in healthcare.• You take ownership for growth and development and personal development, always seek feedback and opportunities to improve how we do things.
