Job Description

A vacancy exists for a Long-Term Substitute School Counselor to work at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit within the Office of Student Services.

Qualifications:

• Valid PA Certification in School Counseling K-12 required
• Knowledge of Act 339 planning and implementation and Act 158 graduation requirements required
• Experience with secondary school population preferred
• Experience working in a residential facility for youth and young adults preferred
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and counseling services to students, specifically in the areas of career readiness and developing workforce readiness skills
• Program includes personal, academic, career development, counseling and consultation services to students, teachers, and school administration.
• Provide individual and group sessions with a focus on career readiness, workforce development skills, consultation services, and training.
• Prepare comprehensive education plans for individual students based on transcripts and desired goals and outcomes of student.
• Monitor educational plans for students and provide support and guidance as needed to assist students to meet their goals and desired outcomes.

Location:

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students in School Age K-12 classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. For additional information about the MCIU Student Services, please visit: https://mciu.org/office-of-student-services/.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

Salary:

Bachelor's, Step 1: $53,997/year

Master's, Step 1: $65,007/year

*Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
