GENERALINFORMATION

Position Title: Long Term Substitute Early Childhood Teacher

Department/Building: Early Childhood

Reports to: Early Learning Principal

Employment Parameters: Hourly employee as per the Long Term Substitute Agreement

POSITION SUMMARY

The General Education Early Childhood Teacher will facilitate learning within an early childhood setting for children in a school readiness/preschool classroom setting.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Minnesota teaching license
• Early Childhood teaching license
• Experience with diverse, multicultural children and families
• Positive outlook and flexibility
• Ability to collaborate and work in a multi-disciplinary team

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Implement designated curriculum(s) and supplement activities as needed to meet the educational needs of young children.
• Design student learner outcomes and goals that meet individual needs.
• Develop and organize a stimulating physical setting to promote successful learning.
• Planvaried learning activities appropriate to the children's age and development.
• Provide effective direction and support in involving the classroom educational assistant and parents in classroom preparation and activities.
• Practice sensitivity and support to children and their families regarding cultural, economic, and racial diversity.
• Participate in effective staff development, including staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training.
• Provide systematic and developmental evaluation to be included in the child's permanent cumulative file.
• Maintain cost effective management of classroom resources and supplies

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a classroom environment with frequent interruptions.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight. Attend to children's personal hygiene needs.
