Job Description

Provide leadership and oversight for the efficient, cost-effective transport of product from distribution warehouse to retail stores in a multi-state region. Manages drivers and supervisors in the endeavor of making deliveries to Kroger stores. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
- Provide direction and guidance for all Transportation leadership within the Distribution Center (DC), and influence a positive and uplifting culture with team
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight with oversight of product movement between DCs and stores in the most cost-effective and timely manner
- Communicate with external carriers to resolve issues
- Analyze opportunities to improve operational effectiveness as measured against key performance indicators
- Respond to emergency and changing situations to guarantee deliveries to customers
- Manage transportation budgets, expenses and invoices to ensure proper claim processing and resolution
- Communicate with divisions and stores to address and resolve transportation issues
- Manage backhaul vendor relationships and identify opportunities to increase revenues
- Assist with scheduling, receipt and delivery of the seasonal promotions business
- Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
- Maintain flexibility to work varying hours, including nights and weekends if dictated by workload/operational opportunities
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum
- Associate Degree business related field or equivalent in work-related experience
- 5+ years of experience with progressive responsibilities in a logistics/transportation environment
- Highly analytical with the ability to understand and resolve complex operational issues
- Strong interpersonal skills and development of associates
- Strong oral/written communication skills and the ability to present complex information to large groups
- Knowledge of accounting and finance principles, including, but not limited to audit and budgeting
- Strong technical skills as it relates to web-based applications/programs with the ability to learn and master different operating systems
- Excellent leadership and project management skills

- Any experience within a food distribution environment
- Any supervisory/managerial experience within a distribution/logistics environment
