Job Description

The Logistics Technician is a day position at the Marietta polystyrene plant. The job requires work on day turn Monday – Friday and will require overtime on weekends and holidays during high workload periods. The position requires knowledge and use of a workstation, use of a computerized maintenance work order and shipment release system (SAP), minor maintenance on railcars, and the ability to safely and responsibly operate the plant equipment using standard operating procedures and work processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine operation of a basic control system and devices to monitor and transfer products.
  • Loading finished materials into railcars, bulk trucks, and cartons.
  • Using troubleshooting skills to resolve product quality, safety, and environmental problems.
  • Attention to detail while inspecting, cleaning, loading and securing trucks and railcars.
  • Following operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned duties.
  • The control, monitoring and adjustment of all control systems and manually operated systems.
  • Inspection and identification of equipment and rail cars requiring maintenance.
  • Performing minor maintenance activities on rail cars
  • Clearing and tagging equipment as required.
  • Communicating with transportation providers on issues related to carriers and equipment.
  • Performing tasks assigned per ACT.
  • Accurately completing all required paperwork.
  • Performing all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Experience in chemical/manufacturing plant operation is a plus but not required.
  • High degree of safety awareness and commitment to following safety standards.
  • Ensure procedures are valid and up to date.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and track-mobile.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Work involves climbing stairs and ladders to access the top of railcars, trucks, and silos.
  • Must be able to work at heights on top of silos and blenders.
  • Tenets of Operations and Tenets of Maintenance awareness.

Preferred:

  • Two-year degree, two years of experience in chemical plant operations, or completion of technical program with training in process operations such as pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and chemical reactions.

Training Requirements:

  • Track-mobile.
  • Forklift.
  • Qualification Exam for Logistics Technician.
Relocation is not available with this position.
