Job Description

Purpose

Enable value creation from core, equity production marketing, by scheduling the shipments from different ports to deliver an operational and administrative support to the Marketing unit. Unlock value opportunities delivering timely information to all the team involved with the logistics, such as sales ops team, managers, off-takers, reporting and shipping team.

Key Tasks

  • Every Marketing Employee will spend time each quarter working on activity which supports Physical Health and Safety.
  1. Performance & Delivery

Schedule and coordinate vessels for the equity products domestically through Chile. Assist with the movement of 3rd party non-equity products being delivered into Chile.

  • Implements, manages, and coordinates shipment plans for the Business Unit equity and third party material.
  • Logistics reporting to stake holders of shipments, deliveries and inventory levels.
  • Enable the delivery of optimised working capital (inventory) levels for minning products (copper, molybdenum, refined metals).
  • Warehouse administration if and when required.
  • Vessel Acceptance with Port Authorities and Shipping.
  • Provide a close co-ordination between sales and operational logistics (with the shipping lines).
  • Provide input to the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • End of month inventory declaration and accounting management.
  1. Compliance
  • Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.
  • Comply with Anglo American Security and Operating Standards
  • Execute logistics operations in alignment with Group Business Integrity and Governance.
  1. People & Teams
  • Liaise with inland logistics to coordinate delivery of products.
  • Support continuous review processes to identify opportunities that will help maximise value.
  • Support the implementation of key optimization projects to maximize value for the Marketing BU.
  • Cross-train with other Logistics Specialists.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or other mining-related disciplines. Additional studies in Logistics are desirable.
  • At least 8 years of experience on similar positions.

Specific Knowledge requirements

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Strong ability to manage several activities simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of commercial and logistics aspects related to Base Metals Marketing

Technical Skills

  • Shipping Operations - Thorough understanding of port efficiency and the entire logistics chain including technical procedures such as stowage plans, load and discharge sequences for metallic, copper concentrate, and ideally molybdenum, to plan.
  • Commodity Knowledge - Understands the production process, technical characteristics, market dynamics, commodity applications, our customers, their requirements and how we deliver value.
  • Negotiation and Influencing - Develops and uses negotiation and influencing skills and strategies and builds relationships to create optimal outcomes to deliver value.
  • Integrated Sales and Operations Planning - Manages activities throughout the marketing value chain to maximise the value of product delivery into the market.
  • Customer Relationship Management - Understand and anticipate external customers’ needs and takes action to meet expectations and deliver value quality outcomes.
  • Market Analytics and Intelligence - Leverage market information to develop strategies and opportunities that create value for the business.
  • Risk Management - Understand, quantify and manage the risks of the business across the whole marketing value chain to support value creation.
  • Shipping and Logistics for Delivered Sales - Manage shipping of commodities efficiently and effectively to generate value including chartering, operations and scheduling.

Other requirements

  • Availability to work under a 12-month fixed-term contract
  • Intermediate proficiency in SAP.
  • Availability to travel weekly to mining operations sites.
