Job Description

Starkey is hiring a Logistics Specialist at its global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. The Logistic Specialist position is responsible for the timely receiving and shipping of shipments to/from the Starkey headquarters, ensuring all items are shipped according to procedure. This position is also responsible for routing of products between the Warehouse, Main building, Technical Center, and Cabinet Shop at predetermined areas. This position also is responsible for items stored in the WFA warehouse. JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for the timely receiving and shipping of shipments to/from the WFA building, ensuring all items are shipped according to procedure. This position is also responsible for routing of products between the Warehouse, Main building, Technical Center, and Cabinet Shop at predetermined areas. This position also is responsible for items stored in the WFA warehouse.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive incoming deliveries to WFA
  • Log tracking numbers
  • Receiving Oracle PO’s
  • Work with Buyer to correct discrepancies
  • Route material to correct location
  • Ensure timely shipping of all shipments leaving Starkey from WFA building.
  • Box, weigh, and label shipments.
  • Prepare paperwork (airbill, certificate of origin, certificate of compliance, bill of lading, SED).
  • Prepare documentation and ship flammable liquids.
  • Maintain daily shipping lists.
  • Contact freight forwarders for shipping quotes and to schedule pick-ups.
  • Send out shipping confirmations to clients.
  • Manage shipping requirements to foreign sites.
  • Prepare commercial and Starkey invoices.
  • Communicate with the export department about problems, shipping instruction and urgent rush orders.
  • Keep files for each account and all their shipments.
  • Prioritize workload.
  • Ensure products and materials reach their proper destination within all Starkey buildings.
  • Pick up and deliver products and material between the WFA, Main building, Technical Center, Hamilton WH and Cabinet Shop.
  • Ensure raw materials and products are delivered in a timely manner to vendors and local Starkey companies.
  • Deliver product to local Starkey companies when necessary.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Pick and ship orders
  • Maintain inventory control for HQ STORES & WAREHOUSE inventory locations in Oracle
  • Organization of WFA warehouse
  • Assist departments with storage of their non-inventoried materials
  • Assure pathways are clear and material is stored according to OSHA requirements.
  • Load and unload bailer
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements

  • Education
  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • IATA Hazardous materials certification preferred
  • Forklift Certification preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Experience
  • Driving a forklift

Knowledge / Technical Requirements

  • IATA Hazardous materials certification preferred
  • Forklift Certification preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required

Competencies, Skills & Abilities

  • Good people skills
  • Ability to use Pallet Jack
  • Ability to type 30-35 WPM required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 90 pounds required.
  • Ability to work with accuracy
  • Effective communication skills required
  • Good manual dexterity required.
  • Good organizational skills desirable
  • Good ten key skills are desirable

WORK CONTEXT

Working Conditions

  • Standing and sitting throughout the work day
  • Comes in contact with hazardous chemicals, noise and heat/cold. Bags are dirty and dusty.

Equipment Operation

  • Scale, mail meter machine, tape gun, reinforced tape dispenser, cutter, hand truck, pallet jack, forklift (minimal), company vehicles

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target rate for this position is between $19.25/hr to $24.83/hr. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
