The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is an emergency response entity, and this status can affect working hours, travel and change in duties as needed. As part of the State Management Team (SMT), this position performs, under general direction, complex logistics operations coordination for TDEM during daily operations as well as response operations. Work performed includes, but is not limited to, management of warehouse operations, inventory management, materials handling, equipment operation, readiness, and management of state staging areas. During special event, emergency and/or disaster operations, this position may deploy to physically austere or challenging work sites and/or work extended hours, weekends, including overnight for extended periods, sometimes with limited notice or relief, to support twenty-four (24)-hour operations at warehouse facilities.
In addition, TDEM meets the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) criteria for Advanced Life Support (ALS)/First Responder Organization (FRO) status. This position’s work duties also includes inventory management of basic and advanced life support supplies, which includes receiving and shipping of supplies across the state of Texas to TDEM certified/licensed EMS employees.
Availability for after-hours and weekend work is required. Must have the ability to operate outside of regular working hours during activations in the field, DDEOC, or State Operations Center, and able to deploy from their assigned duty station for extended periods in the aftermath of a disaster without relief or with minimal rest.
*Salary is a fixed rate and is non-negotiable.

Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – Two (2) years’ progressively responsible work experience in logistics, warehouse management, equipment and inventory control, material handling or other related work.
Preference – Degree in logistics, supply chain management, emergency management or a related field. Experience with inventory management of basic and advanced life support, including shipping/receiving EMS supplies.
*Additional work experience or the type described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Thirty (30) semester hours is equivalent to one (1) year of experience. A completed advanced degree in a relevant field may also be substituted in lieu of work experience.
