About the role:

The Senior Shift Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Chefgood at our Loftus Road facility, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of logistics activities including order picking, dispatch, team coordination, and compliance with site standards.

This senior operational position is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and service performance outcomes while leading a team of approximately 10 employees per shift. The role requires a hands-on leadership approach, with the Senior Shift Manager actively supporting and managing operations on the floor throughout the majority of each shift.

Key Responsibilities but not limited too:

Operations & Production Management

  • Manage the daily operations of the Chefgood Loftus Road facility, overseeing logistics, production support, picking, dispatch, and workflow activities to ensure efficient and timely delivery of fresh meal products.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational strategies, procedures, and plans to achieve production targets, service requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate daily operational activities, considering production volumes, customer demand, labour requirements, available resources, and delivery timelines.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10 team members per shift, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Plan workforce requirements, manage rostering, monitor labour allocation, and ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational demands.
  • Conduct team performance reviews, provide feedback, and support employee development in line with MYMC policies and procedures.

Production, Logistics & Process Improvement

  • Oversee picking, packing, dispatch, and logistics activities to ensure customer orders are completed accurately, safely, and within required timeframes.
  • Monitor production outputs, inventory accuracy, and operational costs, adjusting resources and processes to improve performance.
  • Ensure efficient management of cold chain processes, including safe and timely truck loading to maintain product quality and freshness standards.

Inventory, Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including finished goods stock, stock movements, cycle counts, and operational documentation within ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Monitor inventory processes, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to improve stock accuracy and operational control.
  • Prepare and review shift reports, production records, KPI reporting, and operational insights for senior leadership.

Quality & Food Safety Management

  • Ensure all operational activities comply with MYMC’s food safety, quality, and HACCP requirements.
  • Monitor completion of HACCP documentation, quality records, and operational checks to maintain compliance with food safety standards.
  • Ensure products are manufactured, handled, stored, and dispatched according to required quality, safety, and freshness standards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a strong workplace health and safety culture by identifying hazards, managing risks, and implementing preventative actions.
  • Coordinate safety inspections, audits, incident reporting, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with WHS requirements.
  • Monitor equipment condition, coordinate maintenance activities, and escalate operational issues affecting safety, quality, or productivity.

Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead operational improvement initiatives by analysing processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Participate in strategic planning discussions by providing operational insights, performance data, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve production methods, resource planning, and service outcomes.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, production operations, or a similar operational environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams within a fast-paced logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in temperature-controlled warehousing, cold chain operations, or fresh food environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, dispatch operations, workforce planning, and operational KPI monitoring.
  • Ability to analyse operational data, interpret performance reports, and make informed decisions to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across different business functions.
  • Current Forklift Licence is desirable.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
